Hulabee Founder Convicted of Fraud

GamesIndustry reports that Humungous Entertainment co-founder and Hulabee Entertainment founder, Shelley Day, has been convicted of fraud after she approached Asia Europe America's Bank of Seattle with false documents. Day used the documents which stated that a part of Hulabee Entertainment would be sold off to Disney Interactive to garner a $1.5 million loan from the bank.

After securing the initial loan and further sums, Day stopped payment and then claimed that the sale of Disney Interactive to Vivendi Universal delayed the sale of Hulabee and thus the payments. She later covered her story by asking the bank not to contact the companies in fear that it may ruin their deal.

A year later the bank had its lawyers contact Disney and Day's story began to unravel. The tale of lies has caused Day to be sentenced to 30 months in prison by US District Judge Thomas S. Zilly. Zilly called Day a "sophisticated, educated person setting out to defraud anyone to reach her goals" and denied her request to delay the sentencing.
