Ray's a Diplo - Wombat's a Citizen

How do players achieve status other than "citizen?" I notice that Ray the Wanderer is a Diplomat while Wild Wombat is still a citizen. What gives?

Knuckles, I wouldn't worry about it. You cannot control it. It's who's popular with the devs. I don't have a clue as to how I got veteran as I am the worlds worst brown noser.
