loading time

help me im a newbie

i've been tracking this game for a long time but i just downloaded the beta today. i got it downloaded started it up. went i hit next button after the opponent AI screen i briefly saw i game loading bar then the screen went entirely black. after about 20 mins of waiting for somethng i restarted the program and tried again. same thing and i waited another 20 mins. then i figured the galaxy was what was affecting it so i set it to tiny and 4 other players. same thing. am i supposed to let it load with an entirely black screen for a long while? thank you to who ever is going to help my stupid self

It would help to get an idea of your system specs, especially the video card.

Additionally, make sure you're using the latest drivers for your card.

lets see i got a "NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8x (dell). i found it on device manager. im gonna check for drive updates now

Looks like the issue wasn't load time, but a lack of driver support for the game.

yes that was it just a simple driver update. i used to consider my computer new seeing how its a pentium 4 with XP professional but i see the technology gap starting to grow. now if only the game didnt crash every 5 turns or so. is that normal? mostly happens when i click something.

Shouldn't be crashing at all at this point.  Look at your debug.err.

Send your debug.err file, located in the GC2\data directory to [email protected]. Also if you download SmartException from Stardock Central and have it running while playing GC2 it will capture additional crash information. The SmartException crash file will be in the root directory of your drive and should be sent to Stardock.

Any additional information you can supply as to exactly what you were doing when the game crashed is also helpful.
