Beta 5 - nVidia crash troubleshooting thread

For those of you with nVidia cards who are finding that the game crashes almost immediately try this build:

https://www.galciv2.com/beta/builds/gc-nvidia.zip

Unzip the two files into your GalCiv II directory and let us know if this addresses the issue.

Yes it works but I get a run exe unknown error. Work with CariElf this afternoon/evening for a bit. Seem like the problem is with hardware point sprites. She has the debug.err file and the exception reports. I could use an explanation of the difference between the software and hardware mode though besides the obivious electronic difference. Is shading a factor?

The effect on version .94 was an endless loop when loading - the clock kept runing in the corner, I listened to 4 - 5 iterations of the music before task managering out. Replacing the exe and dll files allowed me to get past the start screen -

Question - what version of GC2 am I running now (with the replacement exe file)?
