California Game Bill Halted

Judge Halts Bill

Just days before the California game law took effect, Judge Ronald Whyte has managed to slap an injunction on it. The Judge explained that "games are protected by the First Amendment" just like any other media and that the bill would "likely" be ruled unconstitutional.

The motion has stopped the bill from taking effect on January 1st, 2006 and has the Entertainment Software Association and Interactive Entertainment Merchants Association jumping for joy. The two lobby groups first requested the injunction just days after Schwarzenegger signed the bill in October.
