| yea i know but in some threads is says that this game is not a space battle game. Anyway i´ve also read that a smaller ship can beat a novice battleship (therefore the dices..) so i was just wondering Why? why the aggression in the races if this game isn´t to be "based" on space battles? |
I'm not completely sure what you mean here but I think you are asking why does GC2 include battles if it isn't what the game is about.
The goal the designers are aiming for is to create a space strategy game with multiple different ways to play and win. Most games in this genre are heavily biased towards conquest victories and sometimes offer relatively shallow alternatives. Stardock want to allow you to develop your own style of play and to make all approaches as interesting as each other. Combat is one option, cultural influence is another while technology is a third. There are also diplomatic strategies or you could intermingle the various routes to suit yourself.
It tends to be that combat victories are the most popular and more combat related features will be requested, following through on that trend and you find some people want to control their fleets in battle personally. And this is where you get the statements from the devs saying that GC2 is not a combat game. The more time you spend developing combat features at the expense of non-combat features the more combat heavy the game becomes. Every now and then the devs need to remind people that there is more to this game than just the explosions. GC2 isn't 'based' on the battles but they do form an important part of it.
