Untimely extinction

It was only me and the Drengin left and they had only 5 solar systems left when I suddenly got the message: "You have lost" and a description on how the Terrans met an untimely extinction in the quest for universal Supremacy.

Why is that?

The Drengin was totally destabilized and had no money to spend.

It sounds like a bug to me. I maybe related to the bug mentioned on another thread.

The problem is that in no way the Drengin should be cultual superior when you are about to finish them off.
