Word has come out via a Splinter Cell fansite that the Splinter Cell movie will not be based on any pre-existing lore, be it game or novel. Novelist of two Splinter Cell novels, Raymond Benson, explains that the Splinter Cell screenplay "is totally original and not based on any existing game or my books."
Benson also explained that he is not part of the production team in any capacity. According to the Internet Movie Database John J. McLaughlin, J.T. Petty and Daniel Pyne are all part of the writing team with Peter Berg set to direct. Sam Fisher's character has yet to receive an actor.
