Beta 3D report

Lots of nice touches.

Tweaks I'd like to see....

I want a warning before a star system defects!

Leveling up gives too much bonus to attack and defense.

Starbases too weak early on and too tough max'd out.

I can really screw the AI by giving them stuff for money. They need to treat their money more seriously.

i had one crash early on but it's been stable since. i think the minor races need to be toned down.

During my most recent game at one point I got the message that the Vor had a massive uprising and split into two empires. The problem is that the Vor had been extinct for several game-years.

All in all, it looks pretty good. Crashes still happen, but they're less frequent than in 3B.

Couple problems:

1) When changing governments from a higher form to a lower form, the current government name is always one higher. When changing from Star Federation, no string is displayed.

2) After buying a Hperion Manufacturing Center, the Hyperion Manufacturing Center was immediately built but did not disappear from the list of buildable items for the other colonies. Changing production after building the center before the end of the turn makes it possible to have multiple centes.

3) On turns where colonies defect to the player; research completes; and building completes, the player does not get an opportunity to change research priorities. Have to go to the research screen after changing production to change what has been researched.

I had a class 27 colony defect. I did not have control of the sector. My moral was 85%.
My solution: restore from my last save (about 5 turns), fast build 1 starbase and add culture. I then added 2nd base and maxed culture on both. I had control of the sector for about 20 turns then lost it. I kept my class 27 world.
BTW, there are 4 colonies in sector: class 18, 19 and 20 are Arcaen and bunched at bottom of sector and my 27 at top.

I'd add that the minor races need to be toned down a bit. Otherwise, they quickly become the major powers.

Yes but it cant be done because they would'nt last 2 turns so they would be pointless.

Oh it can be done.

What I'm going to do with minor races is have it where they pretty much stick to their home sectors rather than trying to expand. So they'll be butt kickers in the sectors they start out in but no really try to expand into the galaxy.

So the real distinction btween minor races and major races is that the minor races arne't going to try to take over the galaxy.

Another very minor bug. I don't have the newest build, but this seems like the kinda bug that would be able to escape notice for a long time. After spying on the Drengin for a while, their most populated planet was Weber IV, which was one of my planets. I got it from the drengin through culture. It has two colonized planets, so I think what might have happened is that only one of the planets was marked as mine and not the Drengins. Other than the incorrect statistics on the Drengin, I didn't notice any other problems with it.

Beta 3D feedback..

The sentry and guard buttons are very sensitive as to mouse placement. In fact it seems inconsistent. I can place the mouse in what looks like the exact position on the button as I used the previous time, and it doesn't set sentry (or guard). It brings up the "rename ship" dialog.

I have had 3 games where my finances screen shows a large net income, yet I continually lose money at every turn. No matter how I adjust for a larger net income, I lose money (although how much I lose changes). If I save the game and restore it, it corrects itself. It seems to be triggered when I get into minor deficit spending, and don't correct it until I am already into the negative. Any adjustments after that point will not correct the deficit even though I adjust it to show a large net income.. Only way to correct it is to save and reload.
