Some Suggestions
from
Stardock Forums
I've been testing for about 2 weeks now, and have some easy to implement suggestions. Hopefully you haven't heard them all before.
Caveat - I'm going to download 3D after this post, so please ignore anything already implemented. I can't seem to get a good feel for a build before the next one is out, so I've decided to just jump in.
Planet Habitability:
"Everywhere" should mean literally everywhere: every star system should have a class 15+ planet. Otherwise please change the name of that setting. It would also be nice to be able to make a custom planet distribution setting via an interface window or text file.
It would be nice to see what the losing side of a UP vote got. I can do it in my head in 5 sec, but a tally would be nicer.
Good races could be unwilling to sell their population (on transports, colships, or planets), *especially* to evil races. Players doing so could lose morality as well (after a warning window). Selling people is under the usual definition of "evil." (Arguably, diplomatic trades between good nations might be volunteers.) Selling people to someone who will probably treat them horribly is especially evil.
Making war on a good race could count as slightly evil as well.
It would be nice to be able to buy and sell starbases.
Traded ships could suffer some damage to represnt the need to refit them to be suitable for the new owner's species.
On the galactic minimap, I'd love to be able to see the following:
- Habitability of the best planet in each star system, shown as size (like pop or prod can be shown now). Anything under 10 should be a single pixel, anything over 20 big, and 11-19 show most of the variation, because that's where the choices are most interesting.
- Unexplored anomolies.
- Unexploited resorces.
- Starbases with a different symbol than ships.
- Ship and starbase icons resized to indicate miltary power. (like pop/prod.)
This will probably require a mini-menu, unfortunately, but in a strat game I crave information. Checking every star in explored sectors for hab planets can be a pain in big games.
Minor races will trade their homeworld away. Cheaply. When they have no other planets. (I usually use Love Mushrooms, so net cost to me is zero.) Diplomatic wooing is cool, but it could be more expensive. Or at least require more thought. (Perhaps the hippy aliens will join anyone with Love Mushrooms, but the short aliens will want genetic manipulation tech to make them taller...)
Hope these are interesting at least,
martinl
