Can I do this with Stardock products

Hi All,

I want to get some software to set-up a workspace on my desktop that works the way I do. Below is how I'd like the desktop to look/act and other comments.

I need the software to allow me to define multiple desktops - I'll start on 1 desktop and then depending on what I'm working on I'll want to switch to another desktop - each desktop is laid out to reflect what I'm working on and would have different backgrounds etc.

- each desktop needs to have a panel on the left of program icons that i'll use while working on a particular task

- each desktop needs to have a list of files on the right side in a panel that I can open from a button on the desktop or by bouncing into the right side of the desktop, I want the panel to auto-hide (fade out would be nice) or be pin-able to stay open while i work - it would be nice to act like a standard explorer window in terms of navigating folders - it would be nice eye candy if i can have zooming icons for the files with pop-up hints for the file names
- i want to be able to switch between desktops as I work, at least between a task related desktop and 'communications' desktop with my e-mail & browser open

I'm trying to set this up and I need input from experts out there as to what Stardock components I should use - I want a bare-bones, fast, stable solution. When I'm happy with layout & speed I'll start adding theme/graphic content.

I am also exploring using Talisman 2 - it is quite configurable but, finding it quite slow - I don't want a package that maxes out my CPU. I'm also looking at Aston which is quite stable but has many things that don't allow control of z-order, putting theme elements behind open windows.

thanks,
kevin

hello i am not an expert by any means but i can offer some suggestions i will assume you playing with desktopx right now if not you may want to start there as with that you can create a desktop like you are describing and you can create multipule desktops with it but you will have to switch between desktops with it [ie. different themes]i believe that is the way it it works.anther product you want to look at is hereLink

it is a 3d desk top program and i believe you can have mutiple desktops open with it as for zooming icons that you pick objectdock would be the program for that and the pro version will give you the option to have multipule docks [ie one for each desktop]i hope these suggestions are helpful one of the experts you want to find is neil bainflied he is stardocks main developer he will be able to give you the best answers
