Well, this ought to be known, but I havent seen it in a while and noticed it's still preset, so I post it again.
Sometimes when a research is complete at the same turn as a social/military project is finished, up pops first the research screen and then, before one has time to choose anything, up comes the GNN message. Since the GNN brings up planetscreens, the research-screen is "lost".
