3D: The AI and freighters

In the 3 games I've played on beta 3D, I've noticed the AI going crazy building freighters. The freighters just swarm around, though; it seems as if they build more than they can have trade routes, fly to a planet, can't establish a trade route, and so fly to another planet.
In my last game, I counted nine Bradian A.I. freighters just in my home system! The minimap was covered in little grey dots.
