From all previous messages from Brad Galciv 1.0 will be a single player game with the addition of the Metaverse. Support of real-time multiplayer was talked about very early and was suggested as a possible future release of Galciv or even a different game under the GalCiv title. Many suggestions where put forward about how multiplayer would be implemented but the amount of additional work to support this added a lot to the project.

When you add multiplayer, you basically eliminate the ability to add in new features quickly like we've been doing because of the additional design and implementation work.
