You said "The Catholic Church sees no justification to kill whatsoever. This has remained consistant since after the Crusades and the middle ages. And at least in the modern era, they have remined uberconsistant on their position." That is not true at all. i should have remembered the nazi exception,,,,you are right, they caved there. the rest of your filibuster really wasn't necessary. but outside of supporting nazi's i can't find much

You don't invite people to be 'punked' that's true,,,but...i personally never saw anything remotely funny on punked,,,and thru some of my friends, i've seen just about every one of them. maybe it's just a matter of taste or a sense of basic repect for others, but i never find it funny to put up a guise, show it to people who have nothing else to

i managed to slug thru about 1/2 the responses here and from what i did see, it seems that ,,, a) the discussion has gotten off point, from the subject of cells in the classroom to the subject of overall discipline. i'm gonna stay out of that hornet's nest for now at least... b) on the subject of cells in school...the real problem isn't kids talking or messaging innocently about the usual things kids are concerned with, it's about cheating with cell phones. kids can us

messing with people can be fun, i do it all the time here. so i can't criticize another for doing it. but ya made a reference to andy kaufmann and i would like to comment on that. andy's life and routines onstage (which after a while became synonomous) was all about "fooling people" as i saw it. in the beginning, it was kind of funny. kaufmann tapped into a niche of the comedic world left largely unexplored. the fact that people don't follow d

In America, we often have debates concerning "the right to life" concerning various procedures that occur from before our departure from the womb to the end of our life. Good people, many of whom are Christians and Catholics will debate whether it is ok or not to abort a fetus, euthenize a terminally ill patient or put a serial killer to death. And we, reflecting our

With all due respect, you've denied or brushed off about every negative reality I've ever posted about the Catholic Church. Why should this be any different? it's not...lula's clear pattern here and in every other post has been to discount everything that rocks her preconceived world. in her world, only the CC can possibly ever be right. all othe

Of course, all the usual caveats apply... "It's way too early to make firm predictions." "Dramatic changes in events could reshape things." "Most Of These People Haven't Officially Announced" And all that. But just for laughs, I want to give some thoughts on some early contenders and what may happen come 2008. First, a look at the G

so, it's not really a war on christmas at all...it's a war on Saturnalia, lol. a nice peaceful pagan holiday "invaded and occupied" by a christian holiday. goin to show, once again, that religion does indeed start more wars than anything else, lol.

I joke that I'm probably the only "New deal" Libertarian that evger existed...lol! I don't believe in government programs, but I believe FDR reacted to a remarkable and an exceptional set of circumstances, and while his reaction was less than perfect, it was understandable. As a result of the New Deal and spinoff "social" programs, dams got built, electricity was delivered

another to add to the list, not a song per se, but the cheech & chong routine about the history of santa claus always cracks me up...esp the line i can relate to, "like i'm not from around here man, i'm from Pittsburgh. like, i don't know too many local dudes, man..." (chong)

Another thing that cracked me up is how they never wanted to quote the old testament until it came time to speak about tithing. Then they were thumping the Old Testament hard. Until then, it's everything in the old testament changed when Jesus came. cha-chinging didn't end with christ i guess, despite his efforts in the temple.

in the short version, i cut a little over 70 billion off the budget. in the long version, i cut 173 billion off the budget. i didn't balance it yet, but i imagine if i could get into more detail, i could find more waste.

Having one or two or even three partners before marriage in the 1940's doesn't even come close to the hedonism that reigns supreme among young adults and even teens in the modern era. but don't you think that maybe the "taboo" treatment of sex has at least in part, caused that?
