All 'F's - no 'P's.

Never mind.
If none of the above works, you might try the following: Procedure #1: Right-click desktop > Properties > 'Themes' tab > select 'Windows XP' in the Theme drop-down list > click 'Apply' > reboot as necessary. Procedure #2: You can look (and only look for now) in the registry editor and highlight the following key (folder) in the left-hand pane: 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-
Richard, We need some more details. Are you referring to boot-up failure? Can you access the boot options screen (F8) during boot to get to safe mode? Best option is to disconnect any 'usb' peripherals and try to get to safe mode. Failing that see if you can get to the BIOS settings to see if your components (CPU, RAM, Power Supply, Drives, and Monitor) are listed and whether the listings are correct. Failing the above, try opening the case and rem
ninja, Which operating system are you running (including service packs)? You may have already addressed these, but here they are: Possible causes: 1 - Computer is going to S4 state (hibernation) rather than S3 state (stand-by), which would result in a 'reboot' behaviour. 2 - You have a 'usb' device connected and/or a device driver is not playing nice with the power management functions of the operating system. 3 - A setting in the BIOS sett
It would seem that there are gangs everywhere, even on the web. I thought this article might interest some people, although I am not really shocked, I do hope this type of trend can be avoided in some way. I also find that I have a greater appreciation for both the security software designers job and for the web site designers / administrators who must take this kind of thing into account. Not to mention normal users like myself who just want a fun tool to work with. A
Hi Charms55, That is the problem. Write (or copy from below) the information of that key: Key in left-side pane = HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcon Subkey inside key indicated above = C Default string value of subkey C = C:\WINDOWS\System32\VITrans\osdrive.ico,0 You will be able to recreate this key if needed, although you won't need it because it is pointing to something that is not there
CorkyO's tutorial page really is under construction. About half the page is blank. The cache tutorial is part of the material currently unavailable The pages are not blank, I just use a lot of images in my tutorials, so the pages take a while to load. Sorry about that. Here are a couple direct links to the articles so you will only need to wait for six to eight images to load: Working with ObjectDock 101 - <A href="http://corkyo
The normal steps would be: 1 - Start IconPackager > Tools menu > Restore all Icons > click "Yes" to confirm > click "Yes" button at the bottom of IconPackager dialog to apply. 2 - If step #1 did not work for Vista, I would suggest trying the system restore function in Vista (Start > Contol Panel > System and Maintenance > Backup and Restore Center > click the "Use System Restore to fix problems and undo changes to Windows" link > select a point befor
Try clearing the cache files for ObjectDock: 1 - Open 'My Computer' > Tools menu > Folder Options > View tab > select "Show hidden files and folders" > click 'Apply'. 2 - Unload ObjectDock if loaded > go to: 'C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock' folder (where 'USERNAME' is the name on your account) and delete any 'ObjectDock' folder found there. Step#2 is the actual procedure of "Clearing the cache", which will
Charms55, Did you do a clean install (boot from CD) with Vista Ultimate, or upgrade (run CD from in Windows) your XP installation? If you did an upgrade, then I suspect the 'Vista simulation' made a registry key somewhere in the registry. If this is the case, is there a 'Drive' key (folder) in the left pane of the registry editor in the following location? 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer' Note - you can safely look at
orthocross, If the message you received said "Maximum activations reached" and was for WindowBlinds, then this is your problem. In that case, you will need to send an e-mail to Stardock tech support and/or post a thread requesting that your activation account be reset. Posting here may get your account reset before the weekend is over, otherwise you will need to wait for the support e-mail to be addressed. Stardock will be happy to reset any authentic account. <img src="h
Just to make sure, CS3 will run on XP...right? Based on the system requirements for the 'Master Collection' - which includes all of the major programs of CS3 - you should be fine running on XP. Here is the link: http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/mastercollection/systemreqs/
I would be willing to update (or re-create) my mini tutorials once the main product I focused on (ObjectDock Plus) is finalized Never mind, Island Dog has already written one.
HEY! I still use Luna XP! You are not alone, so do I! In fact, I also like the default Vista theme. As soon as the graphics drivers get up to speed, it should be a treat. At least XP (whether Luna or skinned) is quite stable with the current drivers from either nVidia or AMD/ATI.
It took me a week just to customize my cell phone and another week to customize my MP3 player, now you want me to try customizing my computer?
I will be investing due to professional work producing documentation for a local company and our upgrading to Vista, so I will do the same for personal machines later this year. Note - there are also versions called 'upsell', which have price points between an upgrade and a full version and will work with the upgrade key of the prerequisite versions (for people like me who upgraded to CS2 on top of PS 6 and Illustrator 8). These prices are about the same as the current full versi
It sounds like a good idea for tutorials, but the one issue that is utmost in my mind is the constant state of change in the Stardock 'point' programs (e.g., WindowBlinds, IconPackager, etc.). This constant state of change makes it harder for anyone outside of the Stardock crew to know exactly what will and will not be accurate information. One example: I installed WindowBlinds 5.5 - both the stand-alone and via Stardock Central - released this year after the aforementioned ar
Alright! Freedom of choice! Thanks to the coders.
At the moment...my status is that my left side is still annoyingly numb...I have feeling there but my dexterity is a bit wonky This sounds like a positive thing, although frustrating. I wish you all the best in your recovery and hope for the best. Good luck and good thoughts.
prophetizer, I agree, you may have found a bug in ObjectDock running on Vista. I would suggest going to the Stardock site and using the tech support e-mail system to report the find.
So it looks like noboby wants to say that they use their computer for anything Sorry, I forgot that part. I primarily use my computer to design and publish quality standards and assembly manuals for a local manufacturing company here in the Seattle, Washington area. This has spawned an interest in both photographic and digital illustration disciplines, as well as page layout design. I am hoping to learn to incorporate digital drawing/pain
