The actual cover or the articles aren't really the point... I guess I was just trying to convey that this has potential as an endeavor, whether it be articles covering winCustomize only, or Stardock products, or a combination of both. Just thought I would ping the idea and see if I got a response.

This has to be one of the most avidly commented threads in a while. Seems like a lot of issues are coming to the surface, too. Hopefully we will all be cleansed after this. In any regard, when I was a DJ (please do not ask for details...) I heard the same thing about females... there should be more. You hear the same thing in Gaming circles, and in the IT world in general. I also believe there should be more participation on th

//Somewhere in the distant future........ //**News Flash** In today's news, winCustomize has decided to completely shut off it's servers... forever. There have been riots in the streets in over 15 major cities as people no longter have access to the skins they need to change the look of their desktops. It is true mayhem. An official from winCustomiz was quoted as saying, "Well, we couldn't afford it, so we had to shut it down. People

I asked the store owner about that and he told me that the store paid for the overhead to house and display them, as well as the shipping of the covers. Additionally, he did mention that the covers were independently manufactured, but for the sole purpose of distribution through that store and others like it who retail that particular type of phone. Incidentally, there were also some consignment covers as well. That store owner sure is a nice guy.<b

Sure, and what I meant by that was in buying a renewal to Objectdesktop I should be entitled to good skins for a year. //fictional editorial to make a point... //I recently bought a cell phone. It has the ability for me to change the cover, and it even came with a few for my immediate use.

#129 by Developer joetheblow: WinCustomize should produce a skinning magazine. that would be cool. another way of bringing people to the site, advertisers and have people create more content for the site using Revenue Sharing. A magazine would be great, and there is already an infrastructure for grea

Citizen Sembetu ...before Wincustomize.com started, almost 5 years ago, there was already a skinning community, largely centered around the original Skinz.org. People who migrated from there to here, when WC began already had a 'history' of contribution which is why there is what appears to the casual observer as 'anomalies'. A

I'd like to see more and more features of WB stop funcioning as time goes on. At download day one EVERYTHING is skinned. Every day or week one element goes away. After 30 or 60 days a freeware user is left with Windows classic. That would learn 'em! I couldn't agree mo

Um, just because there is A major infrastructure here in the US, doesn't mean that a similar infrastructure could not be constructed elswhere. If the rest of the world wants to pioneer a new intercontinental distributed backbone - let them. eventually we will all end up being hooked up to it anyway. Besides, what you percieve as "who controls what" is an illusion anyway. I doubt that anybody here has any true visi

Hmmm ... Let me clear one thing ... Access Levels are based on the performance !!! Higher levels require More responsiveness and participation from the user. Some of those JourneyMen achieved the level because they are/were active skinners, some achieved it by their participation in Forums, Some got it through Article Writing ...

I only have one issue vaguely related to all of this. The method of promotion still seems fairly ambiguous to me. I have see people with very few posts who are journeymen or apprentices, and people who are faithful contributors who are citizens. I am not concerned with my own personal gain, though, I simply don't have the time to commit. However, I do participate enough to notice these minor anomalies. Perhaps this

Food for thought... The Macintosh logo is copyrighted The Windows XP logo is copyrighted I guarantee that there are a LOT of fonts used in themes/skins that are technically only free for non distributed purposes. And I am sure the list goes on. Yes, it is true that there are a lot of font sites out there, but so too, there are a lot of wallpaper sites out there. Few of them

I have a question I need to ask of anybody who can answer it. Where is the area for fonts? From a design standpoint, fonts may be one of the most important visual elements in any designer's toolbox. There are several areas here in WC that could easily be trimmed to accommodate for the space required, and those areas could be shifted to the archives. Additionally, I would be willing to bet lunch that the fonts culd be another area of profita

I am glad you posted this article. I am not generally a paranoid person, but I do keep my eyes open. I had no idea that DRM had gone this far. I guess what makes me really uneasy is, if a "reputable" company which has so many holdings in not only music distribution/labels, but also hardware, is willing to commit intrusive acts such as this, how less protected can you be from other "less scrupulous" vendors? I am concerned that this problem may be i

I think the original image was originally entitled "Sentence case in Square brackets", I believe this is a variation on a Warhol piece entitled "lower case, UPPER CASE in curly brackets", subtitled "the use of CASE just in case - a tune for the blind visual learner with a tone deaf flute teacher playing a chromatically tuned piano with clothespins on her masculine elbow pad protectors". But I could be wrong.

If I had 3K to throw around... I'd buy a Mac. Sorry Guys. I use Windows because I can't afford a Mac, which is why I spen so much time trying to mod it... hence my OD, WB/Panther Theme... glass effects...etc.

I have been in love with OOo for almost as long as it has been around, even during the tough times... ahhh... Anyway, I am glad to see the inclusion of BASE in this release. I remember when it moved from Star Office to OOo, it became ridiculously difficult to manage an "Access" style database with it, and I subsequently stabilized all of my production in MS Office, while keeping OOo around like a forgotten mistress that you visit from time
