As to how my dear old Mother Superior would respond to child abuse, I can only say that based on my experiences with her and others like her...she would have been appalled and horrified. I spent nearly 25 years in the convent. Though I was young and naive when I first joined this particular community of nuns, I did gain some insight and wisdom as the years went on.
