" As far as transparency goes, I'm not sure what the issue is. You aren't flattening your image before saving it to PNG, are you?" Yup, that's what it was. Learn something new... [Message Edited]

Okay here's how far I've gotten: http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v255/tealfan/Temp/first_cut.jpg I can't seem to get the area outside the circle transparented out. Even when I set the background layer to Opacity 0%. Also, I couldn't seem to apply the layer style from that text correctly. I did Copy Layer Style and then Paste Layer Style, but it just replaed my Mozilla image with a gradient. So, I just moved the Glare layer up front. Help? [Message Edited]
Okay my cluelessness is showing now. I put everything together, created my PNG and opened it up in Icon Developer. But, in there it just shows as a black square with some small colored squares here and there...lol.
Can't try it till I get home. Then I'll see if I made a mess or something worth uploading...lol.
Thx again.
Thanks folks!
What if I want to put an image (png, bmp, jpg...) in there rather than text?
Thanks 2.
I changed my username and it now appears correctly on my Start menu. But, in Sysmetrix, it still shows as my old one. Anyone know where else I need to change it? Do I need to go to regedit and does regedit exist in XP? (I'm a new XP user.) Thanks.
Thanks! Can't wait to get home and try this.
I'm using and abusing Fred. I'm treating him like an object. I choose Betty...and for that matter...Mary Ann. Any other newbies out there like Destroyer of Flame and I?
I do, but I'm a virgin. I mean a Photoshop virgin! Well, I know a little bit. I made the wallpaper in my profile desktop from a magazine cover with text all over the place. [Message Edited]
So no movie stars or swimsuit models? Damn...
Wasn't sure if this should go here or in Help Discussion, so I flipped a coin. I'm using farkusmarkus's Fred skin and I want to create my own matching icons to use on my desktop. For example, I want to change the Mozilla icon so that matches all the other Fred icons. He provided the *.psd file for one example icon, so I guess I'm supposed to start there. Any tips to help this newbie get st
Software engineer at an aerospace company. I've been here 7 years and I got lucky in that I work with nice people and in a decent work environment. *knock on wood*
Welcome from a fellow newbie...hehe. I also bought Object Desktop and am having a blast here! lol farkusmarkus...will that happen to me someday? BTW, I'm using Fred right now. [Message Edited]
That did the trick. Thanks!
I tried applying them the old-fashioned way by going to each shortcut's properties, but no luck. I guess you can't get to the icons directly since they're inside the *.ip file? I'm using farkusmarkus's Fred icons. Thanks.
I thought I did. But, since it works for you, maybe I grabbed the wrong one...lol. Just to clarify, it works everywhere else: when I go from one window to another, when I'm on a web page and I go from one frame to another, etc. But, in Windows Explorer, I like to have the folders pane on the left side open. It doesn't work when I move my mouse back forth between the left pane and the main pane on the right. I'l double-check my download when I get home. Thanks,
XMouse is that feature in TweakUI that that activates a window (or frame) on mouse hover rather than mouse click. I hope I explained that correctly...lol. Anyway, this also used to work between panes in Windows Explorer. But, now that I've upgraded to XP, it no longer works in Explorer. Any ideas? Thanks.
I've tried all of the above, but no luck. I can get rid of the blue on the All Programs item by reapplying the skin, but not the beige that keeps popping up here and there in the submenus. I guess this skin has been around awhile and it's having compatibility problems with the current version of WindowBlinds? Oh well. I can live with it until I change skins again.
GoodMorphing, how did you get that "embedded" look for your to-do list and BBC News? That's something I've been wanting to do. Thanks.
I'll try that when I get home. I definitely changed skins a lot when I first got ObjectDesktop.
Thanks. Yup I can get rid of the blue mouseover (as well as the beige residue in the submenu) by re-applying the skin. Thing is, I have to do it periodically. Oh well.
Hi all. Any idea why the colors on my Start menu are all screwy? I hve the latest ObjectDesk and I'm using Apallo's Nucleus WB. Small screenshot: http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v255/tealfan/Temp/start_menu.jpg Thanks in advance.
