A GOOD NEWS! Today I tested DesktopX 3.5 Pro on Windows 7 Ultimate x86 (Build 7127 RTM) during a few hours. It's works perfect! As well as DX and Sidebar gadgets. Moreover, it seems to me that it works here much more stably than on Vista! So I'm sure we will not have many problems after migration to Windows 7. Long Live Stardock! [e digicons]k6[/e]

I've played a few hours with Windows 7 Build 7127 Pre-RTM (May-08-2009)... Conclusion: this OS still contains a lot of bugs and will not be ready for serious testing (moreover for use) at least 3-6 months! So don't spend your time for it. Let's give Microsoft a possibility to finish their work. There is one proverb in Russia: "Don't hurry go to the Hell-Fire before Father!"
First af all you may look here - Animation (tab) : https://www.stardock.com/products/desktopx/help/dev_guide_2objects.htm You hardly
Is anyone actually allocated to DesktopX at the moment?
I join! Just interesting to know why the development of this great software (that no doubt must be in the top of Stardock products) is at the so low level. [e digicons]*_*[/e]
Another thought. What about icons in the DX PopupMenu for files and folders? It would be very and very cool to see this in DX 4.X! [e digicons]:inlove:[/e]
I don't think you can recolor DX plugin objects (such as meters, etc) You'd have to do it manually.
This is really impossible... [e digicons]:([/e] And I think it may be one more thing that should be included into DX 4.x
Why don't you just do it for me? lol
I see some things looks very funny sometimes! Please look here: https://www.stardock.com/products/desktopx/docs/3x/DXScripting.doc <sp
1. Open wincustomize.com . 2. Look at the top right of the page. 3. Press "Settings" if you are a subscriber. 4. Open "My account" tab. 5. Go here: Web Viewing Options -> Skins per page (from 8 to 100) -> Show skins with this rating or higher (1 - 5 stars or All) That's all... [e digicons]B)[/e]
unless you pay again
Honestly? I'm always ready pay to support my favorite software. [e digicons]:inlove:[/e] Even if it will be $65 for each next year. I just want to see that DX is in permanent development [e digicons]:zoomba:[/e] and get some updates at least 2-3 times per year. [e digicons]:typo:[/e]
Where can you find this information?
Just look in the Impulse: Stardock Logo -> Register a product -> Expiratrion Date. Here you will see a short word " None " in front of DesktopX Professional. So the license does not never expire.
then you can see the JavaScript
The only one little problem. It's need to know Java! So I have no any chances [e digicons]:puke:[/e] because I don't like Java and seek to
I would love to be able to move dx into the "main stream" but im just not sure how, and i think this is the main problem with getting new version of dx.
[e digicons][/e] [e digicons]k6[/e]
As a result, I have to keep Yahoo and the Sidebar running, defeating the purpose of using DesktopX on it's own.
This is I've tried to tell during a years. DesktopX has the incredible potential! We need only that DX Developer Team w
the word "Silently" scares the CRAP out of me.. sounds like someone wants to "INFECT" people's machines..
THIS IS REALLY FUNNY! [e digicons][/e]
Im not happy with the 50/50 split, but if it helps SD keep making updates and fixes to DX Pro then im all for it.
Hi David, I'm not happy too but I'm ready try to work with this split. And I think we can "make any "real" money with DX" only if we will create and upload at least 1 new gadget per month (or make the major updates for previous uploads to support them). And a bit of advertisement... Otherwise people will lose their interest
As well as... Two months ago, I worked on a gadget which can read and display S.M.A.R.T. data and HDD temperature through WMI. I've done it but the gadget can find only one phisical drive "C"... The other USB drives are unavailable. As well it can't measure the CPU temperature... So it would be great to add into DX4 some plug-in which will work with PC sensors and retrieve the necessary data for us (for example like Everest). [e digicons]:pout:[/e]
DesktopGadgets.com was dropped relatively quickly, probably because developers weren't happy with the large commissions required by Stardock.
Seems this is true... However, don't forget that we get a lifetime license when buying DX PRO! So I think that this is not a "large commissions required by Stardock". I think this means that we and Stardock became a commercial parthners which works 50/50 in a deal on selling our gadgets . [e
No problems. I'm working on Vista too... So. I've looked inside the gadgets. Unfortunately I can't modify them for DesktopX because I don't know Java in such high level. [e digicons]8C[/e] You need find a people who can rewrite a scripts for DesktopX which will work together with *.dll files included into the gadgets. I'm not an expert in this area... I'm really sorry! [e digicons][/e]
Congratulations with your 43rd! [e digicons]:)[/e] I've downloaded your gadgets and will try to understand what we can do... Seems it should be create them in DesktopX Builder from the beginning.
I've managed to find the draft document I did many a moon ago. Obviously it's not up to date but I think most would still be valid. You can see the article here.
I've never seen this article earlier. But now I can say that it is really cool and easy to understand! [e digicons]k6[/e] Unfortunate that Stardock Developers Team so rarely hears and uses our ideas, wishes and proposals... [e digicons]:([/e]
Seems this is impossible by simple way... [e digicons]:([/e]
IMHO.. resolution dependency has held back DX more than anything.
I disagree...
Currently, everything I make is resolution independent.
Yes. DesktopX has all that we need to make the resolution independed themes (just look at the DesktopX Scripting Guide): <span style="mso-no-proof: yes;"
I remembered one more important thing right now! Imagine that you made CPU Speed Meter (just for example) and decided to save it as a widget (or gadget). Then you run it and minimize to the System Tray. What will happen in this case? Nothing! You just see its "dead" Icon in the Tray... [e digicons][/e] But now imagine that you have some scriptable DX plug-in which allow you show in the Tray a small frame with CPU Speed and Usage instead of "dead" Ico
Also a few words about DesktopX E-mail Notify plug-in... Certainly this is very useful addition! But it doesn't alow us to check incoming messages on Gmail , Hotmail , Yahoo (and on a few other popular Web Mail Servers). [e digicons]:'([/e] At the same time the similar plug-in which included to the Wincustomize Toolbar can do this! So I think that DesktopX Developer Team can make us very happy if they
My client wants to silently install applications from a server onto potentially hundreds of PCs.

I just want to be sure before I tell the client silent installs of ObjectBar cannot done.
No doubt you (or your client) must contact to Stardock Sales: or at least to Stadock Support: <a title="" href="mailto:support@sta
Another impotrant thing... It would be great to see *.avi in the list of Supported Formats (Object -> States -> Appearance -> Image ) to use the real animated textures in the widgets/gadgets skinning... [e digicons]:inlove:[/e]
I think Zubaz is right about my needing a custom installer.
Just buy DesktopX Professional to save your widgets as a stand-alone gadgets...
it requires a registered version of ObjectBar to be installed on each destination PC and the installation cannot be silent because the licence key has to be entered.
Hmmm... Do you want ask us on how to hack ObjectBar? [e digicons]#:([/e] Seems you must go to some another site in
