From the way it looks, most people are just too lazy to learn the scripting needed to creat their own widgets. This is my gifts for WC Community and I'm glad to see that people use my gadgets. But I'm not ready to work on a complex scripts for Lazy People who don't want know nothing about the scripts and software that they uses for wifget d

A several words about DesktopX...
For example, many of the best DesktopX widgets make use of low level system info to tell you useful things about your system. But not on Vista. On Vista, that sort of info is locked out. Forget it.
No problems at least for me. More than I have never used DX to create system meters. And these meters are always work for me on XP and Vista! There are one useful thing in Windows - WMI. People just need learn it and make a simple co

My migration to Vista was very difficult. I have found a lot of problems that was absent in Windows XP. More than I was in one step from refusing this OS and returning back to XP! However I finally found the way how to compel it work for me: 1. Zubaz, I think we need to test this on a several other computers to be sure that this works not only for me... Then we will send information to Stardock Support. ;) One more thing i found right now - the Vista SP1 automatically moves any DX files here: C:\Users\"CURRENT USER"\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\DesktopX\Objects It independently creates this data folder...

Today I have installed Vista SP1 RTM and then tried to test DesktopX 3.49 rc. The results have surpassed all of my expectations - IT ALREADY WORKS!!! (The minor bugs are not corrected but the standalone and Sidebar gadgets, DX widgets as well as DX Builder are really works) But there is one thing you need to do for this - adjust the UAC through Stardock Tweak Vista : 1. Press " Security " button. Then select the " Medium-low security</STRO
Older skinners drop out due to life or lack of interest.
- Great and Wise Words! May tell you with a big secret that I already began to lose interest for DX widgets step by step. Why? Because I have lots of ideas for Sidebar Gadgets that I can't make with DesktopX on Vista... A little more expectation time and I shall compelled to study the Microsoft Gadgets SDK.

I'm sure that skinning just a community right now. And this thought is much afflicts me because it could be a huge market bringing millions of dollars... Moreover, it seems to me that the time when it could be transformed into the market is irrevocably missed. Too many free skins around and in the internet. So this is hardly probable that someone will pay money for this.
But the reality is that if people don't provide detailed reports during the public beta process, then either a program will end up not being developed further because it's too expensive to do in-house or we'll have to keep hiring more QA people which will increase the cost.
Hmmm... I have reported about a few bugs that I found in DesktopX 3.49 rc. And I was really ready to help with its testing. However it seemed to me that Stardock wasn't interested to receive such infor

I Agree. We can find a few ways to fix DX bugs. But only on our own computers. There is one problem. We create widgets/gadgets/themes etc... and upload them here for other people. I'm sure that a lot of these people are only a PC users who doesn't know nothing about registry, dll(s) etc... They want only download some thing from WC, apply them on the desktop to have a pleasure. Why they must study how to correct a problems with DesktopX? So I think that we need be pat

I'm very sad but I have stopped work on all projects on Vista. The creation of simple widgets/gadgets is doesn't interesting for me. At the same time I can't create anything more complicated because the DesktopX doesn't work stable. So let's wait at least the release of 3.5 version!
So now I only use gadgets made with the new SDK gadget maker from Microsoft.
Yes. This is one of the possible ways to get rid of problems with DesktopX gadgetd. I have tried this SDK too. Unfortunately this tool allow us to make only the simple gadgets for Vista Sidebar and nothing more... So I uninstalled SP1 (I'll never more use the prereleased service packs on my PC!) and will wait while Stardock will finish DesktopX 3.5. But now all of my old applica

Every time when I see the negative posts about Object Desktop or any other Stardock products I understand that people which post them are know nothing about Computer architecture and Operating Systems. Who is guilty in it? Certainly Stadock! :( HA-HA-HA! :) During a years I have used Stardock software in Windows XP I found a several minor bugs. A bit more on Vindows Vista... Hmmm... I see they not only have stolen a lot of skins from WC. They even suggest to buy DesktopX Enterprise, WindowBlinds and other Strdock products! May be we lost some details and Stardock already have the official business partner in Russia? :SURPRISED: (little joke) I know a few places like this in Russia, Germany and China that offer us to download illegal software and skins. But only here I saw not only the links to download but suggestions to pay money for this!

This is very interesting Information! I have tested DX with Vista Ultimate SP1 beta. Every time any of my gadgets as well as DesktopX Builder have been stopped with a lot of error messages. Then I have uninstalled SP1 and decided to wait for its finished version. Okay. Today I'll install SP1 RC (that I already downloaded) and will test it again. Then I'll report about the results.

DesktopX doesn't work only on a computers with Vista SP1 installed. :( So uninstall DesktopX if you use Vista SP1 and wait until Stardock will finally solve this problem. In the other case (agree with Zubaz) you really need to reinstall your Operating System.
