'Sure, he accomplished the tearing down of the Berlin wall, but what else did he exactly do?' Did he really? It happened during his presidency, that's all. I'm with Quentin Crisp on this one: 'Politics is the art of claiming credit for the inevitable.'

'Basically, when one cuts through all the high-sounding rhetoric, this is nothing more than an ends justify the means argument.' Well spotted, Emoticon Man. This argument is on a par with those other classic Machievellian arguments: 'Like him or not, Hitler certainly built some cracking motorways' and 'Mussolini? Well he may have been a fascist but at least he made the trains run on time.'

'they certainly prove it by allowing every Tom, Dick and Harry from wherever to settle here.' So the UK has no immigration laws? What nonsense. 'Why do they allow Nigerians, Zimbabweans and citizens of every second hand state to settle here?' What exactly do you mean by the vague insult 'second hand state'? Oh, but of course - a country that has

'Come on people wake up!!! Keep this going. Pass it on to everyone in your address book. Our Country and our troops need our support!' (Anonymous author of test) 'i can't imagine why or how anyone who's spent any time online would go outta their way to defend anything in which the above-quoted paragraph appears. claiming it supports anything--much less our troops--is ludicrous.' 'nope no point at all, just returning your insults to me in kind. If you insult me and you do, expect the same returned.' This is what I said, ModerateMan: Interesting response, Moderateman. But if you're claiming the right to think this way, then wouldn't some middle eastern Moslems be justified in thinking along just the same lines? However you try and wriggle out of it, Myrrander is right - you can't claim your 'quiz' to be any less arb

Hear hear, Bahu Virupaksha - a voice of reason at last. You get an 'insightful' from me for that.

'Either it's bigoted, tactless, or just too lazy to find out which group made the statement.' No BakerStreet, as I said before it's grammar. And the groups are the American Family Association and Focus on the Family - as you would know if you had followed the link provided on the initial post. Now, can we move on from the insults please, as they have no bearing on the valid poi

'So all groups who are both Christian and Conservative think Spongebob is gay?' No, BakerStreet, just some. Nor does your post imply that ALL 'secularist bigots appear to be at it again', only that some are. If you mean all, you say 'ALL'. It's really not that difficult a grammatical construct. 'As long as you say "not ALL Christians" you're fine, kind of like how other bigots say "not ALL black people" or "not ALL Jews".' While th

Response to Tim Lyons: 'You claim that "Christians" are "using their religion as ammuntion in their campaigns". I said this. It is incontrovertibly true. 'Talk about discrimination against an entire group.' No one argued this. The target of this blog - as spelled out in the headline(!) - is 'Christian Conservative groups'. No one said 'ALL Christians'. Perhaps you might learn to tell the difference before you

'me thinks da canary has been chased by to many sylvesters.... AND has totally lost perspective of what is real and what is a cartoon.. I taw I taw a puddy cat does'nt cut it here when america is fighting a war... get out of cartoon land and join the real world tweety.' Well, that gets us a long way. Do you actually have a particular point to make, 'Moderateman', or are you simply in the business of unfocussed insult? <img src="../images/smiles/jok

Gideon, I admit I don't know of Theodora Nathan, but is she actually - as you say in the title of your piece - a feminist? From the content of your post, one can deduce little more than that she is a woman of 'notable accomplishment'. Now, that on its own might make her an inspiration to other women, but that's not the same thing at all as being a feminist. Otherwise, every high-achieving black person would be regarded as subscribing to racial

It's all so clear when you put it like that. But wait a minute ... 13? Whatever happened to 42? (You know - life, the universe and everything.)

Back to the issue ... 'Recalling the Bin Laden remark, Bush said Thursday: "I can remember getting back to the White House, and Laura said, 'Why did you do that for?' I said, 'Well, it was just an expression that came out. I didn't rehearse it.' ' So are we sure that Dubya misquoted his wife? If not, then perhaps it's Laura who should regret the grammatical pratfall, not George. Don't get me wrong, I'm no Dubya fan, bu

But Aeryck, if these people are 'hardened towards Jesus', why do they announce themselves under the banner of 'Christian'? Why don't they just call themselves Anti-gay groups? Like it or not, a major proportion of the anti-gay lobby are Christians, who actively use their religion as ammunition in their campaigns (such as the example above) against homosexuality.

'I just cannot see when we are under attack where posting what we have done WRONG makes it any better for us.' Interesting response, Moderateman. But if you're claiming the right to think this way, then wouldn't some middle eastern Moslems be justified in thinking along just the same lines? However you try and wriggle out of it, Myrrander is right - you can't claim your 'quiz' to be any less arbitrary than his / hers or anybody else's.

'He's not a sexual character . . . he's a freaking sponge!' How true, TW. It appears that these so-called Christian groups see homosexuality everywhere they look, even when it quite patently isn't there. If their God really thinks this is a priority at a time like this, then he's no God of mine. Excellent post, Suspeckted. It only remains to warn all good Christian parents - k
