Thank you, Wahine. I started to reply when dharma and little_whip first commented, but I couldn't think of what to say either. Just writing this article was difficult, but pretty therapeutic; I haven't read it since I posted it, and that's the first time I haven't reread an article. I really did think for awhile that I was okay, that I had gotten past this and I didn't need to remember, or even think about it. It wasn't until recently tha

Yes, sometimes remembering the event is worse. And there are things that repulse me that I don't understand, and even those that I do understand, it's difficult to do anything about. Thank you dharma, LW, and fussyvet. Your comments (and just reading) are much appreciated.

Have you ever ... 1/ Been arrested ? Nope, I was a preacher's kid, and everyone knows that preachers's daughters never do anything wrong!! Or at least that they are smart enough not to get caught. 2/ Punched anyone ? That's quite a big part of my history. I had/have/had an anger issue through the years. I used to think it was cool that I had beaten up every guy in my grade at some point in junior high..........few pe

It is sad and scary at the same time that our memories of the past can control so much of our present actions. Knowing and understand why we are the way we are, why we do the things we do is very difficult. Even harder, though, is changing it. Good luck, and thank you for sharing.

Thank you Ravenblack. I did see someone for awhile, but we had to move and I haven't found anyone here yet. For the most part I've been okay, except for the whole night/dark thing. My husband finally understands that too. We talked about it recently, and he hadn't understood that part (I guess I didn't explain it very well), now that he knows and can help, maybe things will start to get better.

That's one of the things I really enjoyed about the pet store that I worked in a few years ago. I got to help people out with their pets, and in some cases, help them find their pet (I got to help with the adoption of cats that came in from area shelters). Definately one of the most rewarding jobs I've done. Thank you for sharing this with us.

There was a time when I was not afraid. I wasn't afraid of being alone. I wasn't afraid of being outside. I wasn't afraid of being hurt. I wasn't afraid of the dark. Now I am. For over a year now, and it's becoming harder to handle. When I was younger I snuck out of the house quite a bit, at night, and would just wander around by myself. At 11, 12, 13

The only question that pertains now is did he have them in 2001/2? I have mentioned this in other threads and it keeps getting ignored, or at least noone's commenting on it. I have spoken with soldiers who were deployed to Kuwait right after 9/11. When they arrived in Kuwait, Sadaam had his army lined

It could be worse, you could deliberately be a dumbass. There are some men, who will remain unnamed, who believe that celebrating anything on the date it should be celebrated is to predictable. So, their wife will get flowers, cards, candlelight, music, gifts, at very random times. But never on her birthday, your anniversary, etc. BAD MOVE!!!! The random romantacism is very sweet, but when you don't do something on a birthday or anniversary, she

We have three cats, all of them shelter cats, all of them fixed. Our oldest is really the miracle, as she was taken to a shelter by her owners after she scratched one of their children (she was kneading a shoulder and licking the child's neck). All they needed to do was keep her nails trimmed, but they got rid of her instead. Most owner-surrendered animals don't have much of a chance, as shelters are not required to hold them as long as stray animal

CamMeg: I am in my late 20's, I've been married since I was 19, and my husband was the first and only man I've ever slept with. How I managed to get through my teens in NY without giving in? Because I grew up in a home with very strong values, and I knew I was worth more than that--I had better self esteem and better support at home. I recently heard a story of a 13 year old girl who was attacked and raped while walking home from school,

I'll let me hubby answer the question on why he joined himself, but I'll answer the second. When he enlisted, it was for five years. We assumed based on historical timeframes and the length of time he joined for that there would be a war/conflict of some kind while he was in. That's one reason I didn't want him to do any of the "cool" front line type jobs, but with the war we're in now, the job doesn't necessarily correlate to the danger involved th

the way they view sex is mostly determined by the society they were raised in, and less by the way the opposite gender treats them. I can agree and disagree with this statement. It would be difficult to separate these two out, as the way the opposite gender treats someone is often determined by the soc

I've probably missed you saying in one of your older blogs, but where in HI are you? Are you at Schofield? I know some wonderful people there (much better than thumbsucker and numbtoes) you could meet, if you don't already know them.

I remember those feelings. The church I was going to at the time was a frustration for me, as we were the only couple in our Sunday School class who didn't have children. Our class was not actually a couples class, there just weren't many (only 1 or 2) singles in the post college-30 group. So, when my hubby was gone it was hard for me to go hang out with our class, because all these women had their husbands there, and their children there, and I was

Yeah... make sure you wipe off that stage make up before you say something like that... Is that why he wore more make-up than I did when we were in college? Anyway, I spent the summer after high school playing in the orchestra for a production of Pirates. What a blast! I miss theater. Have y

This is one of the things that frustrated my husband so much when he was in Korea. He got there (near Camp Red Cloud) not long after the convoy incident with the little girls, so they were on lockdown most of the time he was there. When they were allowed to go out, they had to have a battle buddy with them most of the time. Not a bad idea, but he doesn't drink, and he doesn't cheat. There weren't many people he could do anything with that didn't in
