Essencay has the right perspective, and the people who upload the skins, whether "from scratch" WB skins or ports of MS Styles have to answer to themselves..I'm sure many a talented skinner has released a "not up to standards" skin from time to time, and someone porting has done 5 minute jobs, but damn, each one knows where they fall short..Seems to me the ego is the problem..both ways..the talented skinners get their egos bruised when a port is receiv

I have a quick question, maybe somewhat related...I uploaded a port of a visual style last week or so and have added a compact start menu...do I need the authors permission to update the skin with the compact start? I would imagine so, but just would like to know. Thanks much

Jafo, that is a great idea..I have only been around this site and this skinning and customization community for a few months, and it amazes me the things that I see that are blatant rips...I can only imagine what the skinners and so called "Old Timers" around here see and could probably report all day long about it..thumbs up for the idea, I hate to see wannabes with no talent or morals try to get stats and a name here for what is not theirs

I believe the old site used to total downloads....at least on wallpapers and screenshots, whether u clicked on the pic or hit the download button..u don't need to download a screenshot and not necessarily a wall either, if you click the pic on a wall and save it as a lot of people do, it won't count the download, but if you download the wall when there are different resolutions or better qualities in the zip, it will count as a download..at least that

Copyright issure answered, but it sure seems to me that the ones that claim they don't give a damn about the ratings are the very ones who are doing the most bitching. Wincustomize may do the initial rating on an upload, and sure it is a subjective thing, but from there the ratings fluctuate by the ratings the people viewing it give it. There are no conspirisies here, people like what they like and funny how the so-called "Elite" keep the high ratings

Why not just use or not use what the hell you like, simple as that. Let whoever rant and rave about what they want, to pay or not to pay, whatever, MsStyles are alot of the same old same old, I like some, and I don't like alot because of that. But the same with Windowblinds, some appeal to me and alot don't, but visually if the aren't really appealing to me, I can see and do appreciate the talent that did go into them, a lot of the skinners are extreme

I would also go with uploading the wall seperate and linking to it or do a suite if u have a suite..lots of people don't know how to even find a wall file in the windowblinds folder, let alone how to set WindowBlinds to install it with the skin or not install it. When I first got WBlinds, it was set to install the wall with the skin and I had no idea that I could turn it off, I liked the wall I had at the time and didn't want to change it, and I think

Very well said horizOn, great observations...and one question, it seems if you click on a picture of a skin or whatever, it doesn't count as a download, but if you click on download, it does count..in screenshots, i see some with 5 or 6 comments with no downloads credited...do people comment on just the small pic?

Morphh, there's a link on the top of the column under Library Search for "Advanced Search Options" to get to the catagories like before...took me a bit to find it too... (ban the green smilies)

Working mostly fine, had a couple times it didn't want to load but doin good, and I do like the new setup, been using it on and off for a couple weeks and I like the way the articles and such are featured more.....stuff that I tended to miss before..gonna be a much nicer site once everyone figures it out....us and you...Well Done

Yeah SD, zooming is considered a download, altho it's just to get a closer look at the shot...maybe somebody sets it as wallpaper and then tries to match it perfectly???..j/k..that would be too weird
