but decided it belongs in Politics it'll certainly get more exposure here, and it is pretty funny.

When all else seems to be going well, we tend to focus on "fixing" that which doesn't seem up to par with the rest of our life. However, in doing so, we forget to pay attention to all of the things that are going well and make us happy. It's certainly proper to try to expand your happiness and successes into areas that feel inadequate, however, it helps to focus on the things that are good, and use those to leverage improvements in the less
Relative global warming is definitely occurring, as the global mean temperature has risen in the past century. By how much and at what period of the century is up for conjecture. This coincides with the argument of the root cause, as the majority of the warming has been shown by some experts to have occurred prior to the most of the carbon dioxide release. Pay attention to my opening wording as well, as the current warming is relative to t
Well then, are you ready to kiss the concept of "inalienable rights" goodbye? You know all those that our government considers "endowed by our creator" and therefore insuperable by man or government? Creator is a pretty generic term. (I know I'm stretching this a bit, as it's probably not the intended
An atheist depends ironically on God's existence. If indeed God did not exist then neither would the atheist, for there would be nothing to be against. Close, however not upon existence of god does the atheist depend, but upon the existence of the theist. Both can exist in the complete absence of god.<
Not only that, but you could hold your left hand up until it fell asleep, then it'll feel like somebody else is pleasing you. Easier and less time consuming to just sit on it until it gets numb, aka "the stranger"
hahaha, good point, and i like your version, by the way. I might pledge heart and mind to it, for emotionally I am attached, but I can also intellectualize the beauty and righteousness of our ideals.
...with libery, justice, and s'mores for all
I think I was taken incorrectly in my last post, I wasn't saying that the words should be left in, quite the opposite. I was trying to address people saying that I can just omit those two words if I don't believe in them, and if that's the case, what's the point of having a pledge at all. They should be taken out, as the basic, official pledge should be representative of a national identity, a pledge that all Americans should ascribe to. As
What about other words in the pledge. Are you ok with it if I decide to start omitting those as well? What if I decide that my oath to my country needn't state that I think it's indivisible? I'm unwilling to look at the country as one country divided into smaller jurisdictions, but as individual nation-states that defer to a federal authority for the purpose of coordinating between them. At the end of the day though, it's fully divisible, s
Has anyone ever seen Killer Klowns from Outer Space? It's a fairly cheesy B horror movie but when I first saw it at around 10 or 11 and it gave me nightmares for about 2 years. The evil clowns with their jagged, pointy teeth and crazy straws used to suck blood out of cotton candy cocooned humans was too much. I'd completely forgotten about it until recently when I found it on dvd. Great movie to watch a little stoned.
Next question. Can you prove the reverse? That is, that it's a mass of cells and not an unborn child? If you take it out environment will it not just die? Not necessarily. Depends on how it's removed and at what point in it's gestation it's in. Was it even alive in the first place? That goes right back to my question to you. Can you prove it's not alive? </
I'd have to say The Dark Crystal. I must have watched that movie at least 50 times, although when I saw it again when I was older, strangely enough, I barely remembered it. I think I didn't really understand all of the story when I first saw it, since I likely watched it the most between 2 and 4, or was too AD-Distracted to piece it all together, although I loved the imagery and adventure.
Still being in college at the time, and late for my first class of the day, I had no idea anything had happened. My girlfriend sent me an odd text message and when I tried to call nothing would go through. It seemed odd, but still not all that out of the ordinary. I ran into her on the street a few minutes after that, when she told me what had happened. The word "unreal" played in my head throughout the rest of the day, as I sat fixed on
It has everything to do with getting the needed revenue from those who can afford to pay more with the least negative impact on their lives Ahh, so the wealthy should be willing to do so..."for the greater good" I always knew something rubbed me the wrong way about your posts. Clearly it's the
Point taken, and well made para. By the way I wasn't taking a position in my statement, just opposing for the sake of discussion. Sorry to have started the hijack Mod.
Wow that's intense. Is there a duct tape day? If not, I nominate October 1.
Baker, can you prove to me that it is an unborn child, and not a mass of cells? If I take it out of its environment will it not just die? Was it even alive in the first place? It's an argument of semantics and gut feel on both sides. It's a pretty big grey area, and as long as anyone says that they'd be willing to accept the other sides reasoning if only it could be proven, no accord will ever be reached. In all likelihood, no one's right
I kept a boat from sinking by repairing the hull with duct tape, all while on the water. That stuff should not only be part of a survival kit, but should be carried around at all times, just in case.
Or maybe it's just that the democrats are actually the evil ones to watch out for. All they had to say was 'Watch out, the republicans are gonna get you. Hang by me and you'll be safe. You don't need to do anything because I'll take care of you.' Then when the people they promised to protect were in danger they stepped back, and let their grand plan come to fruition, which was to backstab all of those who supported them by leaving them to f
Wow, great article. The religion pieces were a stretch, but I understand what you are getting at. Not so much that it's a direct result of those concepts, but bastardization due to the laziness terp describes. Right? Bravo.
I dunno, I could probably live without 'em... sing it with me now I'm freeeeeee, free ballin
Here, here to getting rid of pinko commies, toss 'em in the Marianas.
Well, the SPM character's an ass(and I mean that with the highest regard, having a signed and notarized Ass Affidavit myself), but you must admire the creativity to be so single mindedly obtuse.
My parents did so for me, and it made me significantly more mature than classmates, and I think helped me to make better decisions for myself. Yikes, shoulda read that sentence before posting, I must be feeling rather narcissistic today. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FF
