I don't read the New York Times much any more (i'd say I don't read them at all unless someone else links to them, but I do occasionally read them via AvantGo on my handheld, without anyone linking to them). And I did come across this article (login required, bugmenot

I suppose I ought to update my links over on the side to include more than two of the most popular blogs and one that's no longer updating. When I do, I'm going to list the webcomics I read. One of which is Order of the Stick The <a href="http://www.giantitp.com/cgi-bin/GiantITP/

I haven't blogged for almost a month, and there's no good reason for it (other than me spending time on other things). There's been plenty of events that I would and should blog, from a close friend of mine having a baby, to the Iraqi elections. I just have been feeling a little ragged this month, and haven't carved out time to blog. I will try and get some more blogg

Monday I ordered it, wednesday I received it. It is a Audiovox PPC601, the latest in sonverged phone/pocket pc devices. It replaces an elderly iPAQ and a separate phone. It is (to me anyway) unutterably cool to be able to surf the net at fast dialup speeds on a device that fits in my shirt pocket, pretty much wherever I am, as long as I can get a data signal (which is

And my wife complains (with justification) that I ignore her in favor of video games. At least I change up my lineup from time to time! Seriously, though, while I'll play a lot of games Ironman (no saves except for exiting the game), this guy doesn't even have a pause key. I bet he's got great bladder control. joystiq

Via the peripatetic Instapundit comes this explanation of why SDB no longer blogs on politics. I probably wouldn't have gotten into blogging if it weren't for him (and for our host linking to one of his essays in the monthly newsletter).</

Well, the airlines are going to have to install microcells in their aircraft for this to work. Without that, while cell phones can connect intermittently to base stations, they can see too many and move too quickly for most cell systems to be able to handle airborne conversations. That having been said, anyone want to bet they'll charge a whacking great premium, the same way they do on current airphones? It's not like people haven't had the op

The linked article is all about what happens behind the deliberately minimalist white page, text box, and search button. Some of the numbers are simply mindblowing.

Joel Spolsky (Joel on Software) has an article on this somewhere in his archives, comparing Amazon-type companies to Ben&Jerry type companies (his terms). Stradock strikes me as a B&J company according to his lights

I've been noticing that people have been mining the socio-cultural material of the '80s for a while now (admittedly, in somewhat specialized fields, such as gaming - GI Joe anyone?) But now OpinionJournal has caught the signs. An A-team remake, the revival of the Miami Vice franchise.. Big hair even. And finally "Depeche Mode and The Cure are also st

No, that the CIA leaked classified data with the intent of making the administration look bad. Not that they didn't do a fine job of screwing up by the numbers, but then they turned around and acted in the political arena. I don't think that Bush is another Nixon, anyway.

If this article means what I think it means, there's going to be some metaphorical heads on pikes out in front of Langley in the near future. To which I comment - if you're going to dabble in politics, be prepeared to play the price. The Civil Service isn't the right arena, anyway.</

BAH. I got as far as Royal Manticore Navy- Cruiser Light 56, but I can't remember the name of the boat in question (which I assume is the pun). Umm...light cruisers...umm...damn.
