Progressive USA You are correct about the health care situation in this country. George Bush talks about the crisis in Social Security. There is a far greater and more imminent problem with both Medicare and Medicaid then Social Security. His approach to Medicare has been to make it worse with the Prescription drug benefit which has no funding. His approach to Medicaid is to cut funding for the states and simply transfer the problem from his budget to the state budgets.

Lee 1776 and Drmiler I was able to locate my files I'm afraid you incorrectly stated what happened concerning Mr. Bush. As reported in the Globe on 2/11/04 Lt. Colonel Albert Lloyd retired National Guard personnel specialist is quoted as saying there is a difference between meeting the minimum for retirement points which is what George Bush did and meeting the minimum requirements required for an interceptor pilot. Interceptor pilot cannot maintain flight proficiency by simply attendi
The deficit is far worse then Bush is telling us. First he has not included most of the Iraq War cost and he counts the Surplus in Social Security and Medicare to lower the deficit. The real deficit this year is about $675 Billion. The interest is moving toward $500 billion each year. That would solve the Social Security and Medicare problems with money to spare. Instead we pay it out in interest on the $7.6 Trillion of the national Debt!
Lee1776 Not getting the physical which is required by Regulation is the same as not following an order. In fact the Air Force requires an investigation when a pilot does not take a physical and is grounded. That report is missing. In addition, he did not attend a national homeland defense exercise in Oct 1972. There is also no evidence that he was granted permission to attend drills outside Texas.
No, he has used poll rather then his own achievements to get where he has. If the young people today did as Bush did when it was his time to serve, we would not have the fine military we do in America!
Bush used the Guard when he wanted to get out of Vietnam and when the responsibilities prevented him from running a political campaign in Alabama he did what he wanted regardless of his obligations. He did not take the physical he would required to take and was grounded. His officer efficiency report flatly stated he was not observed by his commanding officer from March 72 to more 73. George Bush did not meet the obligations and regulations he was ob
If Jesus Christ came down and said George W. did not meet his obligations to the National Guard and did not obey orders, you would argue with him! You do not know what you are talking about. I spent 30 years giving and following orders in the military and Bush did not follow the orders and regulations that he was to follow by the oath he took and was allowed to get away with it.
Bush had enough points for a good year. That does not mean you can fail to attend drills for six months when you are in the troop program unit. I had years when I had 96 points but was expected to attend each month. Bush also missed a national training exercise in Oct 1972. As to his physical, as a aviator, he is required to complete an annual physical to be able to fly. Bush was required to complete that physical and did not compete it which resulted in him being grounded. Bush was in the Air
Bush 41 also increased taxes. All 43 wants to do is cut more. When a policy does not work for Bush, he tries some more of the same. Look at trade. He pushed China, now 1/3 of the trade deficit is because of China nad now he wants to expand the same trade policy that has failed to work for 12 years!

The interest is paid on the cumulative debt. The amount of interest as a % of the budget will climb because of the increase in the total debt and because interest rates will not stay at the 46 year low. At $500 Billion, the interest will dive the annual deficit off the scale. Add making the tax cuts perminant and funding the private accounts for Social Security and the funding needs of Medicare including the prescription drug benefit that has no fundi
Lee1776 Your link shows that Bush did not attend drills in may, june, july,Aug, sept and December which is what I said. You are required to attend drills each month and he failed to attend drills during 6 months in 1972. That was also documented on his OER that said he could not be rated during this period because he was not observed. In addition, he did not take the required physical which resulted in him being grounded. Bush was in the Air Guard to fly for which the tax payers spent a
The issue is the total debt and how much interest will that require each year. In 1980 the total debt was 909 Billion and the interest was 90 billion. Today the total debt is 7.6 Trillion and interest, with rates at 46 year low, is 330 Billion. The bush fiscal plan has a total debt by 2008 of 10 Trillion and with interest rate increasing the annual interest will be about 500 billion. The 05 defense budget when you add the 82 Billion for Iraq is 525 Billion. The real deficit in 05 exclu
I guess the Bush pay records and grounding order from DoD are not first hand info. You are so full of BS
IslandDog there is no question tax cuts have stimulated the economy but not nearly enough to replace the lost revenue and to balance the budget. In addition the GDP gains are not producing nearly enough jobs for the growing number of workers in this country. The supply-side stimulation is not the most effective way to grow the economy and thus produce jobs and additional tax revenue to balance the budget. In a time of recovery to be experiencing an annual budget deficit in th
As a politician I give George W. Bush in A plus. When I look at his policies to deal with the issues facing America I give a D-. He either has not effectively dealt with in issue i.e. Medicare Or he has made a difficult situation worse i.e. trade, deficit, environment and the discord that exists in the United States today.
The issue is not what he did 35 years ago but his refusal to admit it TODAY!
Today everything is world wide. Trade, economics and terrorism. It is not possible for any country, including the U.S., to operate in the world of today isolated and hated. That is why what people in other countries think makes a difference! Bush has not promoted an atmosphere that results in the maximum cooperation in Europe, Canida or the Moslem world with America!
The polls in the US show an interesting trend. Just over half support Bush, which is the opposit of Europe and in Moslem countries. However, when Americans are asked if they support his individual policies from the war in Iraq to his plan for Social Security, most do not agree with the Bush solutions. That tells me that although just over half support Bush, they want him to change his policies on almost everything. Before the election a poll showed tha
drmiler # 45 is no answer to #60. I said the conversations between Prof. Tsurumi and George W. Bush at Harvard when he was a student were first hand between the two of them. The Professor has written several articles stating his first hand conversations between him and George Bush. It is just like the former Speaker of the Texas House that stated he got George into the Guard as a political favor. It is like the former Sec of the CO of Bush th
His policies have not created jobs to keep up with population growth, the middle income has sceen benefits go away, energy prices up, the poor got nothing. The only real winners ate the top 5%
drmiler We are not in court. The conversation between Prof Tsurumi and bush was first hand
Bush got an honorable discharge because he had help from daddy. Not following regulations and not showing up is not an option of the local commander. Bush had a two star who had connections to the Bush family allowing Bush to disobay regulations and get off scott free. Yes he got an Honorable Discharge because of special treatment by the Chief of the Texas Air National Guard. The CO of Bush was pressured which his secretary admitted when this story broke. I had contact with the professor of Bush
dmiler As a person who commanded three Army Reserve Units, I know Bush did not serve honorably. The first and most important requirement is to obey orders. Bush failed that most basic principal by not attending drills and by not taking the required physical which resulted in him being grounded. You do not know what you are talking about. What military units have you Commanded? If the military of today acted like Bush, we would not have an eff
How about a public "come clean and admit he was wrong" and tell the youth not to make the mistakes he made. When the fact became public that he had two DWI's, his mother said, "It was not a big thing". The only reason it was not a, "BIG Thing" is was because George did not kill anyone while he was driving drunk. Had he pulled a Ted Kennedy, he would not be President!
