Progressive USA You are correct about the health care situation in this country. George Bush talks about the crisis in Social Security. There is a far greater and more imminent problem with both Medicare and Medicaid then Social Security. His approach to Medicare has been to make it worse with the Prescription drug benefit which has no funding. His approach to Medicaid is to cut funding for the states and simply transfer the problem from his budget to the state budgets.

The deficit is far worse then Bush is telling us. First he has not included most of the Iraq War cost and he counts the Surplus in Social Security and Medicare to lower the deficit. The real deficit this year is about $675 Billion. The interest is moving toward $500 billion each year. That would solve the Social Security and Medicare problems with money to spare. Instead we pay it out in interest on the $7.6 Trillion of the national Debt!

Lee1776 Not getting the physical which is required by Regulation is the same as not following an order. In fact the Air Force requires an investigation when a pilot does not take a physical and is grounded. That report is missing. In addition, he did not attend a national homeland defense exercise in Oct 1972. There is also no evidence that he was granted permission to attend drills outside Texas.

If Jesus Christ came down and said George W. did not meet his obligations to the National Guard and did not obey orders, you would argue with him! You do not know what you are talking about. I spent 30 years giving and following orders in the military and Bush did not follow the orders and regulations that he was to follow by the oath he took and was allowed to get away with it.

Bush had enough points for a good year. That does not mean you can fail to attend drills for six months when you are in the troop program unit. I had years when I had 96 points but was expected to attend each month. Bush also missed a national training exercise in Oct 1972. As to his physical, as a aviator, he is required to complete an annual physical to be able to fly. Bush 41 also increased taxes. All 43 wants to do is cut more. When a policy does not work for Bush, he tries some more of the same. Look at trade. The issue is the total debt and how much interest will that require each year. In 1980 the total debt was 909 Billion and the interest was 90 billion. Today the total debt is 7.6 Trillion and interest, with rates at 46 year low, is 330 Billion.
