Yeah I can buy a near-top of line computer for 1,000-1,500 bucks now, that would be like 2,000-3,000 few years ago. My computer have 1,500 mb ram, and I bought em at 40 bucks per 512 mb stick. My laptop have 1 gb PC2100 ram, and I just bought em at 250 bucks for 2 of 512 sticks. So, if you have somewhat decent job you can certainly afford a powerful computer. *edit wanted to add this* <

You could try that in bryce.

My old wb skins 'Golden Touch' and 'Watery' was made in bryce. Those weren't greatest skins however. All of my wallpapers are made by bryce. Hmm I really should find and re-upload my The Temple wallaper. That's my best work yet.

I really should think up more creative titles. Most creative title I ever tought up was Three Spheres, and if you think for a little bit you'll find out why I named it Three Spheres. Just by playing around. The playing around resulted in Three Spheres and Bryceicon. I also has a lot of pictures that I never published, but kept just because I liked how it looks, like Weird Sphere, one with unusual reddish wave pattern, etc.

Hmm after reading all replies, IMHO best way is either avoid a whole issue, or host just bitmaps with heavy disclaimers that stardock is not reposable of user's hacking of system files. Either that or just give up and start hosting xxcalc skins ( #10236th wanted ) Whole thing of modifing boot screen makes me nervious. Suppose patching went bad? It will be hard time fixing it.

Hmm I recall a program that basically replaces microsoft's own startup for windows, and starts programs one a time, using timed delays. How does delays make boot faster? It's simple really. Windows's own starts all programs at once, and while the programs start up, they all compete for cpu, hd read, whatever, slowing down each other. If they start up one a time, boot would be faster. Touch the top case of the hard drive, if it feels like rocks is inside it and moving around, it's indeed your hard drive, and back up before rest of your hard drive heads goes. Best way is install another hard drive with pre-installed OS ( I don't know whats possible with linux so take this advice with grain of salt of your os is linux ) and put the failing drive as secondary drive. That way the failing drive gets used only when youre coping files, prolonging the failing drive's lifetim
