I can't count the number of times I've heard Christian ministers preach about how correct it is to beat women into submission. Of course they wouldn't say that. They just quote scripture. Hopefully, they don't believe it. But obviously, some men do.
No-one who wasn't raised in a Christian faith would dream of mistreating women. I'm sure some of them would, but they wouldn't (or couldn't) use Christianity to justify it.
