Maybe for your board he wouldn't recommend it, but a faster cpu will speed up renders, time to buy a quad core Richard! I my self kill unnecessary processes sucking up precious resources. :)

I'm a avid user of Cinema 4D, and i have no problems with Windowblinds, i don't even exclude it, and with Ojectdock, i just turn it off, as well as any other non important app that i don't need running. "I need More power scotty"!! :LOL:
