I admit I'd feel uncomfortable when men would open doors for me...that just meant I'd have to wait at the door like a helpless, feeble invalid while he came around to do it for me. I can do without men opening doors for me, UNLESS it is my husband while I'm carrying a child in one arm and groceries in the other, then I'd like to think that he'd open the door without being asked...or GLARED at. Believe me, I've had to beg him to open doors for me in such situations and he looked at me like I was

HI angela!! been a long time since I have seen your name here.. Good to see you! Good to see you too MM Yeah Joe User is fun and as much time as I spend on here I just can't seem to keep up with everything. Hence you rarely see me <img src="http://images.stardock.com/JU/smiles/Tongue.gif" border=0 ALI

#5 is definitely true. My husband was stationed at Talil Air Force Base which was right next door to a tourist attraction of sorts: Abraham's birth spot.

I know whatcha mean. It is frustrating to have stuff on your mind but not feel at liberty to vent them for fear of offending someone or ruining your good name. I guess that's what can be nice about having a private blog. But a private blog can be lonely, right? I imagine that's why you opened up a new blog to share with your family / friends. After all, there are times when we want to share our innermost thoughts with our loved ones, and blogging is a

You aren't doing him any favors letting him be boss. He won't have friends because they won't want to give in to him all the time. His teachers will hate him. You are setting him up for big time loser land Angela. Ouch. But point well-taken. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 class="mb-Body-Quote-

People told me that after having a child my life would never be the same again. I didn't need to be told that. I kinda had an idea. But at what point do we stop letting our kids take over our lives completely? I haven't found that balance yet. Today it took me 30 minutes to get my son to sit in his car seat. I knew if I forced him he'd put up a h

My mom used to threaten my brother & me with: "I'll bash your heads together!" I pictured it every time and it just sounded awful. Thankfully she never did it. But now I remember why we never really acknowledged Mother's Day in our family. Then there was our Sergeant who was pissed because we weren't "s

(Another unusual thing is that I started feeling fetal movement REALLY early this time. The books say it's impossible, but I know my body well enough to know better. In the past couple of weeks I've started feeling it much stronger and more frequently, and of course I love it. It's really reassuring.) T

Thank you KFC...I came back to this thread sheepishly because I realized I took it on a tangent...the topic was "WHEN do you start to discipline your children?", not how do you do it, or please share your stories. Hehe. I was tempted to start my own thread on this topic, but I think you've just hit the nail on the head. I'll check out those books and try to convince myself that an appropriate swat does not necessarily constitute child abuse

I'm thrilled that you raised this topic. Ever see the arching back when you try to hold a toddler against her/his will? Oh yes I experience it several times a day. My son is going to be three in a few weeks, and I have no clue how to discipline him. Since my son was born I've lived in fear of messing him up, which includes taking into

Cheers to those who've given up TV. I thought I was alone here. We've been TV-free for nearly a year, as I have a horribly addictive problem with it so I'm better off without it. Plus the points you all raised...it's ridiculously expensive to receive any decent channels, and who wants to be a slave to the TV? Sure there are times I get that *craving* but I'm always happier (and so is my 2-year-old son) when I rise above that craving and channel my laziness into creative energy. I alway

Good luck on your project! The deadline you've set makes it all the more exciting. You amaze me. I couldn't even imagine undertaking a task like that. How about replacing all that mess with something like this... with no tiling necessary? (I think that's a picture of one giant piece of fiberglass...or at least that's wha

It's been awhile...a lot has happened... I'm pregnant, but I disagree with my doctor who says I'm 16 weeks and 4 days along. What makes them think they know better than I when my husband & I got together?! I know for a fact it was 15 weeks and one day ago. So THERE! Here's the baby's ultrasound from 11 weeks (although my doctor says it was 12 wk

That's a darling picture of you and your littlest boy...and also I couldn't help noticing that beautiful tapestry adorning the wall behind you. What impeccable taste you have, down to every detail of the way you care for yourself, your gorgeous boy, and your home. Blowing a kiss of admiration.... Muaaaah!

I haven't been at JU for a whopping FIVE days! That's a record for me lately. Wanna know why? It's springtime and I feel alive, no longing to be near the computer. But right now my son is taking a nap, so here I am again. One of many highlights that I want to write about started on Sunday. I wrote some pretty weird stuff on JU early Sunday morning, then went to church

I am bipolar too, and while I doubt you'd be comfortable with this suggestion (being in the service as you are) the only thing I've found that helps with that is small, regular doses of marijuana, which eases the worst of my depression and calms my mania as well. That's interesting, marijuana. Never even thought of it. Can you imagine me staggeri

After much introspection that left me melancholy, reflective, I knew it was time to get ready for church. My husband's alarm went off, I'd been blogging all night. I don't need much sleep. Ugh. Church. I knew it was coming, but it's been several weeks since I dragged my lazy self out there. But hearing my husband shaving and getting ready gave m

Social anxiety to the extreme. What does it feel like to be in my mind? Torture, sheer torture. Granted, there are some unpredictable moments when everything is fine and I pass as a normal person, whatever "normal" is, I dunno. I live with this subtle, underlying, ever-present feeling like I'm retarded and everyone knows it just by looking at me. M

I liked your disclaimer, may I borrow it sometime? I hope your charge has returned / will return safely this morning. 2am, huh? That seems a bit late even for a prom night, but what would I know? That was never my scene, the weirdo that I've always been. So you were a good girl blindly following the rules that good Christians follow...and you wonder if some of the forb
