It was such a pity that Job never had a copy of the scroll of Isaiah. Dear Simon, I have spent much time meditating on the book of Job and come to the same conclusion every time. Job saw everything as coming directly from the hand of God. Job was resigned to this view and even when God rebuked him, in the closing words from God, Job repented. The Muslims call this being resigned to the fate of Allah. I chatted to th

GOD: Why NOT you? Suffering is an integral part of all of our lives and the reason for it is discovered not in concourse with man, but in concourse with God. A friend of mine who died of leukemia, in his early twenties, suffered not only physically but emotionally and spiritually. His face would swell up like a big brown ball, and cold and insenstive ones who call him 'lion face'. Inspite of his suffering, he had found in God comfort.

Wow, I always thought I was the odd one out thinking my books were my friends. C.S. Lewis' - Sci-Fi Trilogy (three fascinating paperbacks) have presented themselves to me for the second time, having read them first more than thirty years ago. Another (though not fiction) a flimsy paperback,

I stole Him from Jesus, yes I did. And Jesus can't have Him back. Not now, not ever. Sabrina, Everything you are telling me, you have told me before. "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." (John 10:27-28) Either one is a naughty sheep who is being attacked by wolves, or visa versa.

It's like I've said a hundred times. When there's concrete evidence to support ID, let's teach it in the classroom. Until that point, let's keep it to the "World Religions" class rather than the science ones. That's silly. Children need to be exposed to varities of views. Just because something is proven today to be true, does not mean that tommorrow it might be found to be untrue, and the next day true ... My own schooling was a pleasure. We h

I use the terms "micro" and "macro" to make a point about the distinction between the two.. As far as I can tell, micro-evolution may never stop. While macro-Evolution, that is ---evolving over a long period of time from one species into a completely different one---never started... That's the way I understand it too. Aeryck.

Maybe it was a tribe of particularly stupid space aliens? You are forgetting about the fall. The first of our species were pretty fine specimens, but something terrible happened to them. We have diseases we cannot cure, deformities, and bodies that die. Something terrible happened to our race and instead of getting stronger we are getting wea

By the way, these ID proponents (who were Christians of course) sent death threats to the judge that made the decision that it was unconstitutional to teach ID. As well as one of the teachers involved in arguing against teaching ID in the classroom. It won't be the first time that the Church has wacked a Christian-Scientist.... It is not just Christians who were afraid that they might fall of the edge of the world ... Aeryck (leav

It's a beautiful thing when logic prevails. It is better when Science prevails. It is such a pity that modern science is more interested in Theosophy than it is in pure Science...and what on earth is that anyhow. Aeryck.

Either your god is capable of designing worlds and doing all the other godlike things, in which case he needs an explanation in his own right. Or he is not, in which case he cannot provide an explanation. This is stupid. I think Dawkins might be advised to read Thomas Acquinas. For example if I was living in the time of the great Albert Einstein and he explained his views in terms that were in no way reduced to the level of my tiny bra

Got to love your psychopathic Christian fundamentalists. Zoo~ It's war for some, and for others its just another day at work. The debate will go on for as long as there are humans who were not there to actually see what started it, or how it happened etc. Sort of like a dog chasing it's tail..unless it has a really long computer generated tail. Hehehe. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/ju/T_JU/smiles/Laugh.gif" border=0 al

I think I can take on the craziest fundamental Christian out there now...although it won't do any good to fight faith with logic unless the other person is a sane individual. Usually not the case with religion vs. science. Why not argue with a Scientist who is not a Christian, who does not share your point of view ? Aeryck. ps. It

It scares me that a religion only 2000 years old thinks that they know everything. Hi Zoo~, Christianity may have only been on the map for 2000+ years but the roots go back to infinity and beyond. Calling all Trekkies. Aeryck.

The proponents of macro-Evolution have not offered anything but fanciful speculation that one species evolved into a completely different one...as apes to humans. By this you are referring to trans-species mutation. As far as I know the only time that happens is when one is translated from the kingdom darkness to the kingdom of light...it something that requires powerful magic. Gandalph the White.

If you want to believe your ancestoral line goes back to the ape species and beyond, and believing that takes faith in junk science. Hi Lula, When one looks at the wreckage of a jumbo jet, it takes definite science to try and figure out how it happened. When one looks at the Universe and how it came to be, I am not sure if Science can do that accurately enough by itself. We just don't have a black box to check the events...or do w

So there's a higher power that is cool enough to start the thing off, because something had to start it off, but then he just sat back and watched the thing go for millions of years. If we find it hard to accept the first two phrases, how do we know for sure that this higher power is not woven into the very fibre of all that happens? And

This is the origin of the logomachia that has consumed the West since Luther posted his 95 Theses on the door of the Church at Wurtemburg, and split the soul of Europe (of which you Americans are the inheritors) in two. And we are not God. Therefore, in every question of reality, of truth, of Divinity, there is no realistic option for the human being other than to keep silence - because what we know is only what we know, and what we know is incomplete.
