I've got a HUGE problem. My desktop died. My SATA hard drive decided to nuke its NTFS system (no idea how) and has now managed to gain the ability to crash any Windows XP system it touches... (sadly, I BSOD when I try recovery console, hook it up to another computer, put it in an enclosure and try via usb) Well, here's to hoping I can get it fixed in time! (Spent 12 hours tooling away on it today... hopefully the Linux distro I'm

Its 72 degrees in Plymouth...? I really need to start going there more often (sadly, when the Coffee Bean started having hours it just wasn't time efficient for me to go).
I'm getting both. I've been waiting for a RTS which doesn't just follow the same old formula (how fast can you build something so you don't get rused?)... and through playing the EaW demo (along with the mod that unlocks more) I really think that it delivers at that - at least its better than Force Commander (yeah, I was dumb...bought that game years ago because it was Star Wars). Since EaW and GC2 are such different games... they
I live over by US131 way out in BFE North or south of 94? I used to spend all my summers out in Jones (Just a wee bit off of 131).
Yeah... I actually just built the system - was wondering what the first thing I would have to throw money into would be (I figured ram). I figured out why my system was working slower than it should have been - needed a BIOS update (went from a 3dmark05 of 3800 to 5100). Unfortunatly ntfs.sys decided to kill itself last night... so my first 'upgrades' will be trying to fix the thing (went to compusa, got a HD... didn't work since with the corrupted HD
They felt that the CEO of the company suggesting that people sue the company might not be considered a good idea. That right there sums up why I like Stardock so much.
So... question on my system: AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 1GB SDRAM DDR 400 eVGA Geforce 6800GS PICex16 Whats the biggest bottleneck on it (which means... whats the next thing that needs to get upgraded on it - memory or video)?
I figure we might as well get a jump on all the complaints... -insert long rant here-
I jump on I-94 on my way home from SD. ahh 94.. So, I guess I'll be downloading it about 5 miles west of I-94 & 14 miles north of I-696 I'll download it one mile south of 96 and one mile west of Telegraph. And... I need to get the suspension on my car fixed - one too many potholes <img s

I've always found that annoying with AI as well... in Starcraft I'd wipe the computer out for the most part... then just let it build back up because I liked bigger fights (they're more fun). Though... it may not just be an AI problem... when I used to do it on battle.net people would just leave
Odd... in GC2 I haven't had the morale problems that I would have in GC1 (though I haven't had access to the gamma so it may be different) - in fact I managed to make it so that I was taxing 100% and still getting an approval of 80%+ (and thats without devoting any major portion of any planet to morale improvements)
As for questions 2... I'm not sure about the gamma... but GalCiv2 does have it so that when you hit the threshold of what the computer players will accept it changes the color of the text (from red to green).
Here's some backstory for those that haven't read it yet... https://www.galciv2.com/story.aspx
I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that since its a preorder Stardock isn't sending out the email (or charging) until its shipped.
GalCiv 2 is the only game that I have to date that uses my laptop's full resolution...
Moral in GC2 actually seems to be much easier to control - though it does tend to have large jumps in the percentage from turn to turn... Its actually entirely possible to have a 70+ rating with 100% taxes... without building any entertainment centers.
According to the Stardock guys you'll get it with Amazon.
Heh... technically I think I'm supposed to get 2 or 3 copies of the game - I preordered it separate first... then subscribed to TotalGaming.net (which means I would get a copy for its 'new games in 1 year' policy), then TG.net went to its new system (where everyone gets GalCiv II for free if they were under the old system). Ah well... (with that I have multiple copies of GalCiv I as well... bought it retail). Anyways, I'm sure its been asked
Heh, it would be so much easier if I could just drive to their office when its released... (15 minute drive from my house)
Awesome... so the big thing that got to me will be all well when the games goes gold. (Would've done more for the whole beta testing thing... but the computer I was running would overheat if I ran GalCiv II or anything else that made the processor go full tilt for a time (it was a laptop))
Hey all, Playing Galactic Civ II has brought one thing to my attention (big time). When I'm playing... it always seems that at some point some other race will get the idea that they can defeat me (which somehow never seems to work), so they demand a huge tribute from me... then go to war when I refuse to pay it. The problem that occurs it because of the alliance system in short I have literally every other race in the game (often a couple mi
Bah... there isn't a mouseware version for my mouse.
I'm hitting the same problem of losing the mouse cursor (and I know a couple other people have as well)... I'll try the updated version of the mouse drivers to fix it... + Logitech HID-compliant G5 Laser Mouse | Vendor/Product ID: 0x046D, 0xC041 | Matching Device ID: hid\vid_046d&pid_c041&mi_00 | Upper Filters: LMouKE | Lower Filters: LHidKE | Service: mouhid | Driver: mouhid.sys, 8/17/2001 13:48:00, 12160 bytes
