Ran CCleaner and it did not help. Still seems to have a download limit in place and tells me my subscription is not current. hmmmm.. This started Tuesday or Wednesday. And my Object Desktop subscription is good through May of 2012

Awesome, thank you. Haven't used ccleaner in forever on this laptop. Will try that.
I am an active software subscriber. Account is good through the middle of 2012. For the past few days, I am getting a notice not allowing any more downloads saying I have reached a magical no download limit. Contacted Wincustomize's customer support and have not recieved help within 48 hours. I have been around here for 10 years and this is the first I have ever seen a limit placed on the usability of Wincustomize. Also noticed an annoying popup
I agree with all of you on this, this is poor taste. Totally wrong. While I may disagree with most of the logic behind charging for skins, simply not supporting the business model and even moving away from Windowblinds is how it appears most in the community have handled things. Diminishing user base, fewer skins created, etc. is proof of what is happening to the community. The cost of ownership, using Wincustomize and it's branded "Master Skinners" products, h
Hey I was trying to come around to the master skins since that is the way things are here now. I did rag a lot about them. Sort of changed my tune once I considered them as art. I have tried to leave positive comments for the most part since then and leave my rants out of individual skinners projects. But now that I consider them as art, I am waiting for more. That perfect one that says buy me. Art. I bought one for the color combination I was looking
Master skins were first introduced as the best of the best. Now the skinners themselves, you are all awesome. Even the new ones. I have made some simple but unique skins in the past and I can't even imagine what it takes to make WB skin. Where's the daring, the unique, the unusual? If I am going to buy a skin, then sell me one!
Probably aren't expecting that from me. But, where are the truly "master" skins? Most of what has been released as of late falls in the average category. There seems to be a flood of master skins..... but not anything above and beyond the free ones that have been released the past half dozen years. Maybe 1 - 2 deserve the art award and could be showcased with WB as a cause for more $$. And I am not saying the master skinners are doing bad work. All I
Are there any setting anywhere that might alleviate the problem of occasional temporary freezing. Not all skins do it, but some (about half of them) will. I am working just fine in a window, but then I switch windows, and everything freezes for up to 30 seconds. The window I was working in becomes pale and the task bar will disappear... leaving a task bar button and the tasktray behind that are non-functional as well. After 10-30 seconds, everything c
So whats up? There are TOO MANY master skins clogging up the windowblinds skins section. Can we please move these things on to their own section so the majority of users don't have to look at them? I know Wincustomize likes all of them to be master skins, but this is getting to be a headache for most users who pass on these. Seems like Master skin artists would like the attention of a Master only category. Within the past week, up to 2/3 of the skins were m
I am not concerned with how much money is made. [e digicons][/e] The money has to be generated somehow to pay the bills. Just curious. As for downloading and uninstalling counting as downloads, I am sure that happens with premium skins too. Especially if they are not quite what was expected. Or the user changes moods. There are bound to be some skinners around that watch their download numbers and take pride in how many people are using or
I want to see download numbers for all the Master skins. They should be published just like all the other skins here on Wincustomize. A really good judge of the skin quality can be made on the number of downloads. I would think most skin authors/creators with good skins would like to advertise this.
Looks good! Will I be able to hide the master skin gallery(or shrink to just a button) and make the normal skin gallery come back? There are now more steps to access the main galleries? I do like the layout and potential it has. I don't want to be bombarded with Master Skin advertisements. Wincustomize is changing from a skinning community to a shopping experience. Did you see the shopping cart button at the top?
This is a greast discussion. Software can cost a lot. And yet, it actually doesn't have to... depending on your platform. Still haven't seen many hard numbers that really justify the cost of the software and the 1000's of hours that are spent on one skin. There is a lot of talk. Anyone who literally spends that amount of time on one skin for that amount of money is not doing this to make money. They are doing it because they enjoy it. Yes, it can be an ar
Vamp, you make some nice skins. You just recently moved into the master skin status. Congratulations!! I respect your work. And I apologize for ranting about this in your skin review. It belonged out here so everyone can see it. So I deserve a little of your "bite". I honestly can't imagine anyone spending 1000s of hours on one skin. Learning to be an artist yes, but not on one skin. I have nothing personal against any of you Mas
I like the replys. thank you thank you We need lots more. :) I know the types of the software it requires to make skins.
Maybe this could help at least me understand the changes that have crept up around Stardock and this Wincustomize branch of Stardock. I have lurked around here since Windowblinds was a beta before version 1. This was like .6 or .7 when I found it. When Windowblinds was created, the skins created for it were free. Makes us wonder... was Windowblinds originally created with the intention of having the skins for it free or sold seperately. I don't know if the orig
Yay! I have been waiting to try this out. Eversince I got Vista on my laptop, and then dissapointed that Vista Business wouldnt run it. Super News
Screenshot looks nice. Already paid Stardock for Windowblinds. Why pay someone else to use the program also?
Interesting, I am curious just how many of these things actually sell.... as in numbers of skins sold verses number of subscriptions of Windowblinds that are out there. And, who the customer actually is for these skins. Since this is kind of new and a testing ground for selling these things, are the only customers average stardock customers, or just the master skinners themselves? If the only user of the product is the upper echelon of the community, how does the rest of the community feel
Hehe..... The gripe here is the money you pay for the program, (fine and well deserved), and then the more money you pay just to use a skin written for the program you already payed for. Then the more money you pay to use the company's website without being inundated with advertisements. The more disposable money we are willing to shell out for this eye-candy hobby, the more we are going to be asked of.
Advertisements are only as obtrusive as the site administrator makes them. Perhaps if all those Master Skins were included in the subscription price, it might be worth it for the average Stardock program user. For the skin creator, I CAN see a value for the site for all the help, Q&A, and support without any additions. Especially since the program to make the skins is free, right? But support for Object Desktop programs themselves should be included in the price we pay for the prog
Grats guys. Your quality of work deserves kudos. Must say I hate to see you have to start selling your skins now though. I will miss your work on my desktop....
How often do you change skins? I particularly use Windowblinds and Iconpackager, and change skins anywhere from once to 5 times a week. Often trying out what peeks my interest here on Wincustomize or Deviantart or somewhere else. Am I in the minority here that changes it that often? I am always looking for thet perfect desktop. Are you really getting your money's worth out of these premium skins/suites? Especially if you change skins as often as I do? Has anyone re
Looks REALLY good! Great work! Cant really say how it functions though on my dual widescreen. Paying half the price of windowblinds for a skin that I will likely change in a few days (unless I like it) just doesn't make sense for me. For those with the disposable income, you should definatly try it out. The authors (Essorant and Stardock Designs) have been around for a while making good stuff.
I am trying to decide if I want to resubscribe to Objectdesktop. Have really enjoyed it in the past, and the main reason I subscribe is windowblinds which is kept very uptodate. Thank you much Stardock. I dabble a little bit with logon studio and and few of the minor programs that come with it. Would really like it if DesktopX didn't run havoc at times when I use a lot of programs. It is a neat toy that I still try to sneak on for a while until it causes probl
