There's more excitement watching the talking heads make (bigger) fools of themselves by actually believeing exit polls than there is in the voting process itself. Of course, I've been accused of being an oversarcastic jerk who enjoys making fun of other's idiocy ...

On AD's link, mine came across as McCain as 70.6%, Barr 62% and Nader 58%. :) Just goes to show that I *still* haven't got a foggy clue who I'm voting for in 4 weeks. :P
Sodaiho, judging from her response, her initial point was not so much that it was MUSLIMS, but that an organized church was doing something to violate their tax exempt status. And on top of that, they aren't being called out on it. If a baptist church were to do this same thing, then they SHOULD lose tax exempt status. In fact, they would very quickly be threatened with this because so many people watch them for it. Since it's a series of muslim mosques doing th
I'll just be glad when this election shit's over.
Bleh. Once this Federal election's over, we here in the Commonwealth of Virginia get to do this crap all over again for the Governer. [e digicons]>:([/e] Between the 2 year cycle for Congress, the 4 year cycle for President, and the 4 year cyle (offset by 1 year from the Federal cycle), we're putting up with political garbage 3 years out of 4. It definitely opens your eyes to things around you that you normally ignore. Like adopting a 5 week old kitten 'cause they ran over them (literally, they drove over the kittens on the highway) or watching a caterpillar climb up the deck post and wondering where he's going. I've noticed that he (of the 4 kids) is the one that seems to grab life and squeeze as much out of it as he can. And then he wrinkles it up and tosses it on the floor. [e digicons]:D[/e] &
Alison, As the parent of a child with Asperger's Syndrome (and thus would fall into your Autistic Spectrum classes), I can tell you that having teachers who really want to help the child (rather that won't admit that it's actually a problem) is blessing to us. On the off days, which can be sparked by anything (even though most of the kids have specific triggers), it's painful, frustrating and heartbreaking 'cause you know the kids WANT to. It's just that they can't a
Seperation of Church and State? Silly me, my copy of the Consitution (and Amendments thereof) only mentions that the State shall not dictate a religion. Nothing is stated ANYWHERE in the document that says that individuals may not be religious while holding office. If everyone is to be held to the standard that Thomas Jefferson alluded to in various letters (again, not part of the Constitution, itself), then all of the athiests in office are not allowed. 'Cause
Judge Dredd (based off the comic book series from Marvel Comics). Judge. Jury. Executioner.
It took seeing this commercial a half-dozen times to realize it was a Microsoft commercial rather than a commercial about how two wealthy people can throw money way. [e digicons]:D[/e]
Leauki, hammers and toilet seats are anecdotal - you're right. Those anecdotes go to demonstrate the point that government (and the U.S. Government, in particular) is an inefficient, bloated, wasteful entity. Nothing that is done is done efficiently. When some of the largest (and highest profile) Army contracts are to streamline business process and then, utilizing the same methodology as business are still only half as efficient as the private sector (again - using the EXAC
The thing with the $300 hammer and the $500 toilet seats wasn't that the individual items cost that much (the items themselves went for about market price). The point was, when you add in all the extra bureaucratic overhead involved in procurring the hammers/toilet seats, the average price for the items on the contract where way out of proportion. And that's what would happen with health care. Yeah, they'd be able to say that a particular procedure cos
My mistake. She gets a 10%.
So, her success rate's higher than Congress' approval rating? Well, that's not hard ... one hundred bored monkeys could bash on keyboards for 18 months and come out with more passable legislation than this Congress has in the same time period.
Home schooling is so 19th century
I'd argue the point with you if I felt it would make a difference. Tex - I know the feeling. Since we moved back to our home town, we put the kids in the local school system. And my wife's enjoying the chance to figure out who she is outside the realm of "Mom". September can't come soon enough ... When you mention Isabella picking on the boys and them letting her, it reminded me of my three boys
One thing that I find interesting (and rather revolting) is the way that the NT Times (in particular) has sat on this since October. Nah, there's no bias there, is there?
I will say this, unequivacably - I love my wife. The days of being "in love" in Tova's definition ... they come and go. This is more a flaw in me, rather than a flaw in my wife. My wife and I have been married for almost 14 years now and have know each other for 18 years. She is my best friend and my most desired companion. She completes me. She is the rock that sit on when I'm weary and the tree I lean on when I grow dizzy. She's the flowers t
Like naming your child Jesus or Moses?
Just as pretentious, imo. Annoys me with all the folks that do it, too.
Somehow, I don't think Ctuhlu would mind, lol.
Yeah, I think he'd look at is as more of an opporunity to crush some mere mortal's sanity. On a regular basis.
How 'bout a boy, then?
Sure. With my luck, the boy would be a complete and utter wimp, thus making Spike into a joke than an accurate description.
When we got around to naming our boys, it was fairly interesting. Our oldest was going to be named after the grandfathers, so he ended up as Jon Thomas - ended up being called JT or "Jet" ... and boy, does he live up to the "Jet" - his mouth runs as fast as a jet engine. :D The middle son, we decided to pick the name of a prophet (Micah) and slapped on a name that we always like (Alexander). Fits him, too. The youngest boy got named after both uncles, wit
One question that comes to mind here - Blizzard is NOT selling you the software when you buy the box. Otherwise, they would have to charge for the client when making it available through their own resources. And they do NOT sell the client. You can go and download the client now, with out paying a dime. And w/o actually agreeing to anything. What Blizzard is SELLING is access to their servers. When you purchase the box, you purchase the access license assoc
Have you made sure that you're signed in to the forums? Sounds silly, but there are times where transitioning between the main site and the login over. And the forums have a nasty habit of randomly logging you out. (Or, that could just be me stuck using IE6 at work).
Too often you see this happening. It can happen in the big, corporation-like churchs and it can happen in the small, "so far back in the holler they gotta pump in sunshine" churchs. This attitude is something distresses both my wife and I. This distress has driven us out of several churchs lately. Funny that I sign into JoeUser on Monday after watching the Mandy Moore movie "Saved" ( http://www.imdb.com/ti
I like how everyone's making Blizzard out to be some kind of heavy handed tyrant in this issue. In my experience, Blizzard goes out of their way to NOT restrict folks from using their service except when explicit evidence is found that they're breaking the EULA or TOS. In the cases where folks have been banned from the service due misunderstandings or false positives (see the incorrect bannings of folks running WoW under Cadega), they are more than willing to reverse the decision
As some of y'all are aware, John Bruce Thompson (aka Jack Thompson) is an anti-gaming activist and (for now) lawyer. He is one of the most rabid anti-game personalities making the rounds right now. For YEARS, everytime there was a school shooting (or rumor of same), Jack would be on the news saying how it was all the video games fault. After the VA Tech shootings, he was on CNN with an hour saying how it was all video games' fault - even though there were no details as
Wacko Jacko's been crusading against everything from Rock & Roll to Porn to Video Games over the years. He's not had his license officially revoked yet. The judge who presided over his disbarment hearing recommended a 10 year disbarment. Her formal report is due in September (I think) to the Florida Supreme Court. They'll then take the formal action. I can say that it can't happen to a more deserved fellow. Good Riddance, J. B. Thomp
Growing up in Germany, AFN had all kinds of PSA on the air. One of the ones that has stuck with me over the years was relatively simple. It had several M113 and jeeps crossing a stream in a forest with the usual martial music playing in the background. The voice over talked about the number of people who drown every year. The clip ends with the picture of a teaspoon filled with water and the phrase "Remember, you can drown in as little as a teaspoon of water."&nbs
An LFG fan, huh? Poor Richard. So misunderstood. :D Have you seen the music video for Slaughter the World?
