I gotta agree with trid on this one. If it's a decent program then what's the problem with asking for a little help? Not all programmers excell in visual design. For a lot of lesser known artists this is a great oppertunity (if, of course, the program is good enough to catch on) to have their work noticed. If you recieved an e-mail from him about it, reply to the e-mail he sent with your opinions. But replying the way you did in a public forum, which was posted for everyone, not s

hadn't that been mentioned in one of the older threads? I like the idea. If you decide to do it this way, will you still be highlighting apps every month, and only adding them after they are highlighted, or just add all sections at one time and organize them from the beginning?

hmmmmm. Interesting thoughts Nuvem. However, since they're coming from the most popular XP artist to date, I don't think they could be very valid points...*s* hehe

having trouble uploading a windowblinds skin. I thought I would bring it to your attention _just in case_ you aren;t already aware of it. here's ther message I'm getting: aspSmartUpload.File error '800403f2' The file : 'C:\.....\.....\.....\......\intercross.gif' is not allowed to be uploaded (Error 1010) /upload2.asp, line 120 I tried twice and got the same thing.

Honestly, adni, I have seen that technique used many times before. Not neccesarily with XP wallpapers, but displaying objects from that perspective is quite common. I have seen both wallpapers and the only resemblence is the perspective. Continuing on with this temper tantrum is merely making you sound immature.

Do you think that it is ok to rip off of MS? Read the whole statement to see in what context those few words were stated. No, I don't _believe_ it is OK to rip anyone's work. That includes graphics work included in software packages...ie: winXP, Luna, ME, Aqua, QNX, BeOS, and whatever other gui's "skinners" like to make 20,000,000 copies of. Like I said, it's a two way street.

umm...welll, in a way, I really can't say that there is anything wrong with it, even if they did rip it off of you. After all, you took the general idea from them. Actually, as often as "skinners" rip MS's interface's and such, why should they see anything wrong with ripping off the skinners? It really is a two way street. (no, that particular comment was not directed at any specific person, but to all skinners who have ripped MS's OS interfaces).

Alexandrie, I was simply suggesting making them more noticeable for a few days, till things settle down a bit. afterall, anyone new here isn't exactly going to go searching through the whole front page on their first visit. *s* no big deal though...*s*

I think my first post was actually in relation to someone hinting about how awful my work was. Too bad he didn't have the nerve to actually say it on the skin comments instead of on the message board..*s* Then, of course, all those wonderful old flame wars that remind me so much of home.....*s* We have flames here, but they just aren't the same without all that brown behind them. oh, great...now I'm getting homesick again...*s*

Perhaps it would be a good idea to put an article on the front page (in the new section) stating that due to traffic, some sections may not be "working" properly. And put links up to a few other skin sites in the article. Like to LOs, DA and skinbase.org (or whatever sites I'm too lazy to actually check out). That may help temporarily decrease the amount of traffic here long enough to get everything running well again.
