I think in saner times, the Secret Service knows that. But this is all about the "I" factor and how modern American liberals like to play the victim.
I'm trying to move away from ideology, right vs left. I discovered something pretty unflattering about myself this past year. Often times when confronted with a political problem or situation I operated from the point of having the answer before even investigating the facts.</sp
The police and SS have the obligation to investigate if someone calls in a tip, even if it had been a 14 year old boy who talked with his friends in school about something that they found interesting like white house security.
Actually they don't. Unless someone directly threatens the President, the SS doesn't get involved. Talking about white house security falls under freedom of speech.
Under
Kids are curious about such things too, this could have easily became a learning moment with some adult supervision (instead of cowardice), not the usual use of study hall I know, but an opportunity never the less.
The VP tried to make this a "its a good civic lesson" argument when I first told him he was incompetent. I told him that would be fine and I'd agree if it wasn't wasting city resources, tax payer money, and potentially da
If something similar had happened in a school here, and if I were a teacher who had been there, I'd have asked the kids first what that had been all about. Kids talk about stupid things all the time after all, that is no reason to call the police.
Funny you mention that....H started study hall this quarter, for just this quarter. He came home at the beginning of the quarter and told me he thought his study hall teacher might have mu
I would have that VP fired! he clearly showed no intelligence. And you are probably right. he took pleasure in "sticking" it to a bunch of pre to early teens
I don't think I can have him fired...haha...not that powerful. But I am drafting a letter to the Board of Education. If he makes a habit of doing so much harm to kids, a paper-trail might be exactly what's needed to have him removed from his position. (It's practica

What I discovered during this whole thing is...you may think you have freedom of speech, but you don't have freedom from accusation. The legal system is in place to protect your life from false accusations, but there is nothing to protect your reputation. Homeland Security and their lists are ALL ABOUT REPUTATION. You can essentially be black-balled on a list, ge

That's just it Doc...we don't have a zero tolerance policy...our district is too savy...however, Homeland Security does (read pt 2)...It's almost like the VP enjoyed hurting those kids.....I hate to say that, but his actions imply it.

THAT NIGHT…I went home and did a little research. I researched the school and district policies on “threats.” Not surprisingly, there wasn’t anything about threatening the President of the U.S. However, there were some criteria for what constituted a viable “threat” made by a student while on campus. This situation did not meet any of that criteria.

A couple weeks ago I sat down to help my 6 year old with his homework. The phone rang. “Ms. Tova, this is Mr. A, the Vice Principal from the middle school?” Me: “ Yes.” VP: “ I just wanted to let you know, H won’t be on the bus today. It seems there was a bit of talking
makes people look like hypocrites for me if they fail to live up to their own standards.
Is Sarah sleeping around? How is she a hypocrite for something her daughter does/did? I really really hope people don't judge me by what my teenager does or doesn't do. I can believe and preach abstinence until the cows come home. It doesn't make me a hypocrite if my son has sex. <

Granted, its not a scientific experiment, not really even a quasi social experiment since there was no action to control for Z variables (potential other reasons for the outcomes).... It would be interesting to compare a school that teaches abstinence only with a comparable school (demographically and economically) to one (or several combinations) that teach safe sex only. <span style="font-size: sma
Only a remote cllicker would word it that way!
Well actually, my BFF from HS couldn't pass the ASVAB to become an enlisted airman in the AF...scores were too low...so she became an officer in the Army. That's what I was thinking about when I wrote that....heh.

Thanks Doc! I'm in the process of re-writing this...polishing it, expanding some of it as you suggested. I would love to take you up on the offer once I get the second draft done. It won't be in the next month or so because I am writing another novel right now and am about half way through. But I go back and edit one when I have a chance....what I posted here was an obese outline...but I'm fl
How you been (other than falling down)? What issue of "Better Homes and Gardens" is your house in? (I remember the - 9 yards? - of top soil too!)
hahaha....yeah the yard turned out so awesome...it was mostly a drainage issue....now within in an hour after it rains we can play football or whatever...... My house will never be in Homes and Garden because it is not old enough to be a Bob Vila's "This Old House" and not young enough for all the options today....but
Tova, forgot one other other thing. When my son came home to retrieve the car seat the day after the birth he was waving a little blue card around and I didn't pick up on it at all. I was peppering him with questions and it did seem odd he was being evasive. Come to find out they had to ask for special permission to have info printed on a blue card instead of a pink one just to pull this prank. When they told the personnel at the hospital that this was the first girl baby in my husband
