Is this a bug? in SkinStudio WinCustomize Forums

Working with SkinStudio 7, in Vista Ultimate SP2, in the Change Skin Colours / Edit Vista Part Colours section, all the sections are blank, there are no default colours, if you click on the top, where the first colour nomally is, a black colour box appears with the words "unknown colour". the change colour button does not bring up the colour dialogue. Is this a bug or is it just peculiar to my system? I have reinstalled SKS7 to no avail.

Thought I had it fixed, until I changed from XP to Vista, even though I thought I had exactly the same settings could not get the links onto the bar, until I noticed I did not have the same font set in Optons/content/default font, so I changed this setting from verdana to cambria, the text immediately jumped onto the bar & became active again. So it would seem the size of individual fonts also causes this issue.

As I said in an earlier post, Starkers, I am happy skinning for XP, & I have written before skinning is my lifeline, I would have gone up the wall without it, as it is one of the few things I can do at the moment, but it just seems a bit pointless if if there is no one out there who might download it. I agree with you about moving on & I am looking forward to trying Windows 7 when finances allow, with all the positive comments about it, but that said I will make my own judgement

Thanks, Bichur, once I found the correct size for the text, the links went onto the bar & worked. I had my text set with a Stylish userscript.

Don't worry Philly0381, no need to apologise, you have not gone very far off subject, I have enjoyed reading all the posts, & the dabate about the OS's is all part of me deciding about which ones to skin. As i said previously I like Vista, but if I had not been left some money I would not have been able to upgrade & would be one of those still using XP. I look forward to trying Windows 7, as a previous poster said, which is best is a matter of opinion.

Do not think I asked this question because I am worried about my download count, if anyone looks at my gallery you can see my download numbers are not great, I skin for myself & try to do something a bit different, if you look at the WindowBlinds gallery, a lot of the top download skins are Vista/Windows 7 look alikes, which supports Starkers point that we are afraid of change. Thanks for all the replies, I agree with the majority of you about XP & only have it on my computer so that I can skin it, I use Vista for every thing else. I suppose that most people who freqent these forums are power users rather than casual users so I would expect the bulk of you to have moved on from XP a long time ago, but by the same token, anyone who bothers to customize their computers are likely to be more than casual users. I can also understand why many firms still use
