WoM engine had terrible compatibility problems. I think it is called Kumquat. They did most of the compatibility stuff while developing for FE. They did alot of reworking and got rid of things like pixel shader 2. I know there are some posts by Brad about it somewhere. Basically, the engine development was the major impeding factor of WoM, but is now the major contributing factor of FE. Funny how that works.
Ah, all that stuff's abov
It all depends on perspective. I see the engine as the best thing about the game. In fact, most of development time is spent on engines. Much less is spent on the actual game mechanics. So when I say 90%, I am talking about the engine's design, the fact that pretty much nothing is unmoddable and the limitless content that can be added by the user. You just don't get this in most games. I suppose it's the same as people w
We need to be able, for sure, to develop a caster (at least with our sovereign), because so much of the empire building is tied to magic. Having it be entirely random if you are even allowed to level up is a terrible way to approach it.
YES, this I agree with. We need finer control of our sovereign, but I think there has to be a level of randomness/chaos built in, or before long, lots of people will
And I would still say you are missing 90% of the game. That said, the 10% you do see is quite nice.
Yes and No. Using a mod and making a mod are two different things. I would use a mod, but I do not have the time, patience or skill set to make one. I can come up with ideas and maybe suggest implementation, but that's about it. So, E:FE is even more fantastic because it lets
If you watch the new version of Totall Recall, you see excellent marketing strategy being implemented. Tablets are a communications device. Perhaps 'informations' device is a better term. Tablets are meant to have the information when you need it where you need it. They don't primarily focus on processing power. The same can be said for laptops, though to a lesser extent. Processing power is limited in orde
@Nasarog, You can still play with some level of dynasties. There is an on switch in the XML. I would bet that the expansion is going to be all about children of Sovs and whatnot.
That is what I am hoping for. There is so much that can be done with them. If The Frog, Derek or anyone else cares, I could go into crazy details, but I will leave that for later.
ex: major bugs, tool tips shortcomings, UI polish/addition, etc? Depends on how you define "major" and of course, whether we agree with those complaints. A major bug in my view would be saved game corruption, 3D models missing, repeatable crashing, etc. The best thing anyone can do when reporting a bug is to not editorialize but be as specific as possible. Beta 5 is ab

How about the icons on the let side of the screen ending up behind the bottom left status window. You miss out on them. There has to either be a way to scroll through them, or a better notification system.
However, there won't be a beta 6. The beta 5 series IS where the balance/tweaking is occurring.
Really? How long is beta 5 going to be? Without really changing the mechanics of the game itself, will there be several stages to this beta addressing the major things that people have been complaining about? ex: major bugs, tool tips shortcom

Thank you everyone for your help. I will see what tools I need, and do my research before I start this project. I'm in no rush, but I'd like to have it done by Thanksgiving (u.s.), so we'll how it turns out.

Okay, I see what you are saying. That makes sense. I've upgraded a HD, VC and ram before, but never built a comp from the ground up. I guess now need to read up about all of this.

SO let me get this straight, for now, the core i5 is a better chip because it is optimized correctly for current games and the core i7 isn't, but in the near future the core i7 will be because it has more untapped potential? So if I decide to do a laptop I should go with core i7, but if I do a tower, I should stick with a core i5? is that the gist of things.
