No espionage on the minors, yeah. I like to do as someone else mentioned, and use them to weaken my enemies and boost my economy. They make pretty decent friends in a long game, as long as you don't need their planet.
The biggest difference will be in the AI, if I read correctly. All good stuff.

The minor races are one of my favorit features. I wish there was a minimum setting for the minors, meaning there will be at least X number of minor races on a map. You can add them into a map with a cheat, but I've never tried it. I wish they were a little more aggressive/effective, too. If wishes were horses....
I like the digital download idea. It gives SD the freedom to do things how and when they want. The way SD Central works, it would work for anyone. Even if you didn't have internet access at home, you can burn it to a CD, and take it there with very, very little difficulty.

In the early game, I pay the top two or three AI civs to attack everyone and each other. Once my planets are protected, I go after the civs that have annoyed or slighted me. For example, in my current game, the Arceans had the nerve to threaten me with war if I didn't pay them a modest sum, twice even. Their planets are burning as we speak. I spent an obscene amount of time finding my in-game portrait, and I'd really, really appreciate seeing it during the game. Maybe on the bar at the bottom somewhere, or at least in the diplomacy and UP screens somewhere. Pretty please?

Well, in my case, the AI had a higher military rating at first, but it's ships were no match for mine. I had large hulled destroyers with specialized attack and defense, against fighters and heavy fighters.

Yeah, I've lost a planet or two to this tactic, but I quickly learned to not leave my planets undefended. I hope the AI gets better on protecting it's transports when there are clear threats in their flight paths.
We'll I can't edit my post, but I meant to add, I read that you could only play as terran, games were limited to small galaxies and limited to 150 turns. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yep. This is one of the most well supported games I've seen in my 15 years of PC gaming. If there's a problem, I've no doubt it will be dealt with.
I wouldn't bother to take offense. This isn't even an original post. I've seen various iterations of it on gaming forums for at least a couple years. Pretty lame.

If it's the European version, the serial number is wrong. Either way, there's the option on SD Central somewhere to directly enter your serial into it. It's on one of the drop-down menus, IIRC.

Have you updated your game and drivers? Did you check the sticky's for known issues/fixes? Video drivers must be current or you will probably have issues, and many motherboards and sound cards require updated drivers, too. If you've updated your drivers and still have a problem, post your debug.err file.

If it's the European collector's edition, which I think is the one in the tin box, then you need to go to the Paradox website and get your correct serial number. The numbers got screwed up on Paradox's first run or something.
