Quoting Sanati, reply 8I'd really have to play it to know for sure. From what I've seen in screens and videos it essentially looks like a WoM mod. It's the same core game, the same major assets, the same layout, it's just been modded a bit (or a lot) with some alternate gameplay rules and some new spells and monsters. Basically if you look at FE screens next to WoM screens, you can't really tell the difference, other than some pu

WHAT?! The Fall From Heaven modder is the project manager for Fallen Enchantress?!? Put this on the box, no joke. I had no idea. Suddenly I have massive hopes for the gameplay in this. (i'm still not in beta) Modders have huge "gamer pr" value. Heck, just as an example, if i saw an expansion for Civilization 5 i'd just think "oh great, it's another half-arsed addition with no real deep gameplay". But if i saw the same expansion "box" (or features list online), with a
I was an early buyer (i think i even pre-ordered??) of WoM, yet it claims no such thing on that page. Just gives me the normal "pre-order now for 39.99 (or what the price was) and get in beta 2!". Then again, the whole Gamestop buying Impulse thing messed up my accounts a bit it seems. I can download Elemental and my copies of Sins + expansions & Galciv2 + expansions in the Gamestop Impulse client, but if i log in to the Stardock Store website, an exp
Yeah. Especially very border/territory-specific spells. Some of the most interesting ones gradually changed the terrain in your territory to whatever your units were most proficent at fighting in (desert, grasslands, tundra etc). But i suppose as Elemental already does that automatically it matters less :) It would be interesting to see a more terrain-heavy implementation though. Perhaps making the terrain change gradual when taking over or building a new city, and having your u
This is my biggest question right now regarding FE, will there be spells (endgame high cost spells) that have 'cool' empire-wide effects? I'll use my fav fantasy strategy game as an example, Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic. Such as, a spell costing upkeep (or just lasting a few turns) that grants vision or denies enemies from seeing far into your lands (a sort of "Dark shadow terrain" spell). Or something like, if you're playing as as human race you could cast a
I've been running with no sounds forever in E:wom because the sounds are quite boring and repetitive. Then again, I do that in almost every game.
You're missing out on half of what pretty much every game has to offer O_o I had a friend like that, it was always completely incomprehensible to me. They add so much atmosphere that to play without sounds or music in games is like playing scrabble by yourself in a qui
Hey, used to be a BIG fan of this mod but havent played the game in ages. I'm just wondering if the same old out-of-memory crash bug still exists? I noticed some recent Sins patch included major memory revamps and preformance enhancements, does this positively affect heavy duty mods like this one? (oh please god say it does) I'm also running 64bit now, perhaps that will help compared to before (i crashed just as the games were getting interesting) Reading the abov
To me it seems the problem with Elemental from the start was a lack of proper planned out game design. Through all the patches and everything the past months, things have changed so much and in such different directions, it is clear that it wasnt thought out from the beginning. I don't know if it is a matter of development time or not, perhaps developing the engine took too much time or focus away from the gameplay concepts. I just feel that Elemental is insecure, I don't
I did the same, however while i can play the game, i cant login to impulse from ingame, it says my account does not have access to the game, lol? Even though i just downloaded it via impulse.. Sigh.
Oh, you have to turn off "show beta versions" in the impulse settings and, idk, re-download the game i guess.
+ LOTS of code to handle the increasing costs in terms of people to run your improvements. If anyone thinks that getting highly talented people remains equally easy as you grow, ask google, microsot or apple about that. It's not. 6:50 nice to see that the good old "can place multiple copies of the same unique building" bug still isnt fixed. (note how the Study is still selected and ready to be placed even after being placed once already)
THE SAME DAY AS THE CIV5 PATCH??! This is indeed, a happy day to be a strategy gamer :D
I will say this: I'm amused by all the posts I'm seeing in various Civ 5 forums saying things like, "This will be an awesome game once they fix issue X, Y, and Z with a patch/expansion." But that's O.K. because it has Sid Meier's name on the box, so of course it deserves a top rating. If only Elemetal were so lucky.
No, it's an awesome and amazing game right now, day 1 after launch. Its polished, its beautif
Disagree completely with this post. I'd rather spend my money on the AAA insanely good, polished, gameplay-ironed-out epic 4x game, than the beta-state, gameplay-features-still-in-flux, unbalanced perhaps-to-be-epic-with-mods-in-a-few-months game. I own both, i bought Elemental, i bought Civ5. I defended Elemental through alot, i loved it, its a cool game. But to compared it to Civ5 is like comparing a pick-up truck to a luxury sedan, just dont do it. I'd never consi
There is a way around it...... Only add the information in your mod xml that is changed from vanilla.. So in effect, if you ONLY change 1 line (or however many it is) in a fireball_spell.xml, you can just make a new fireball_spell.xml and add nothing but that one line, then that line will replace the vanilla line in that file, but the entire spell stats and such will be loaded from the vanilla file. This works with some xml files, maybe not all. Give it a try! It wor
Yep noticed this today, all my custom empire factions had kingdom-looking walls. What i did to fix it was to add this to my race xmls F_Outpost F_Outpost CityWalls_Fallen_Fence Might want to add those in the ingame faction creator so it doesnt mess up in the future if patches change stu

Awesome earth spells!! Is this 1.08 compatible? Im guessing not (im too early lol), ill check back tomorrow XD
Dammit. No fix for the OOM crashes. Still unplayable for late games here.
How can you have played a 5 hour game already? Try starting a new game instead of loading a savegame which was known to crash :/
" After that, we will begin focusing on v1.1 which will be the first post-release update that is designed specifically to extending game play." YEEEEEEEEEESSSS [e digicons][/e]
Quoting Bellack, reply 40 OP you are doing something wrong. Build your market places. Find gold minds. Making gold in this game is not hard unless Ridiculous mode penalizes you in the gold making department. I've only played on normal mode Do half of you posting even take the time to read and comprehend what you read? I never said MAKING GOLD WAS TOO HARD in a general sense
Well, lol. "better" might depend on which side you are on, perhaps i should say better death animations, or more visual. I'm just somewhat tired of every soldier in a group fading away so fast when they die that they dont even have time to end their death animation! Having squads just magically fade out the dead numbers, oh i mean soldiers (sorry, easy to lose immersion) , is just so utterly dull that it makes combat just feel like a numbers game, like a die rol
It will never have total war battles. But having squads just magically fade out the dead numbers, oh i mean soldiers (sorry, easy to lose immersion), is just so utterly dull that it makes combat just feel like a numbers game, like a die roll. All i want is for some Visual goodies, something to suspend my disbelief and immerse me into the world, show me soldiers flying back, show me soldiers dying and their corpses slowly rotting down into the ground (if you HAVE TO have them remo
I'm not against it, i just dont give a shit about the campaign in this game, or in civ4 or civ5, or in sins, or in galciv2, or in sots, or in any other strategy game :P And i can tell Stardock right now that if the expansions end up being 50% (or more) campaign oriented, i wont be buying them, since i wont be playing the campaigns at all. But im like that with most strategy games. Its a finite gameplay mode. It will end within a few hours no matter what, while the "real" game, th
