The UP is one of the places where I think GalCiv2 can improve on immensely. FalCiv2 has all the basic building blocks for most things (UP, trading, epionage, simulated battle etc) but most of it isn't very expanded, and most likely will be improved on in future patches. I like to see a way that 's similar to Alpha Centauri, where you can bribe/convinced/intimadate other races to vote for the same cause in the up coming election.

I don't see why that is a problem. That's what I do as well, persue a single line of weapon tech so I can get the lightest and most damaging weapon of that type. The only reason I would change is when I'm planning to attack a race, or a race that have declared war on me, and they have a defence of that type. I would of course tech trade for the other weapon line though. The AI does adapt even if it is late. It be interesting to see how this plays out with human players when

I believe the 'no tech trade' is slightly flawed. You should be able to bully others for tech. Anyhow, has anyone won a tech victory with the 'no tech trade' option?

I, too, am having a REALLY hard time making the jump from beginner to normal. At first I found it really difficult too. The trick is to have a very strong economy through starbases even if you haven't got many planets. A diplomacy bonus also helps a lot too. The colony rush does help, but it is defin
There are advantages to have a previous weapon technology. They are cheaper, sometimes takes up less space and quicker to manufacture.
I'm not complaining at all. I mean it, the ONLY thing allowing me to go to sleep is the crash, which only happens after every 5 to 10 hrs of straight playing so I'm guessing it's a overheating issues - yeah, I have the latest everything. *shrug* I reckon it's getting to the point where I'm a bit afraid of starting a game because of my addition.
I can't stop playing. I really can't. I just play for hours and hours on end. I tell myself I'll stop at 11PM but before I know it, it is 1 AM! I tell myself I'll stop once the research is done, or I conquered a planet, but no, I just keep on clicking. The only way I can stop playing this game is... ironically are the crashes to desktop! If it werent for these crashes, I'd go mentally insane if I haven't already. <img src="smiles/Laugh.gif
The Altarians handed over several starbases while I was fighting the Drengin and not one of them did me any good. That's because your not looking at the benefits. Sell them back, or another race to get lots of tech, money etc which then allows you to fast buy-build your ships. <img src="http://images.
It is better to have an option or ESC to skip over the ships movements etc than capping the sensor range. It just seems silly that you can research really good sensors and build a ships with ultra long range sensors only for it to be blocked by an invisible radiation wall or something...
I would like to know as well.
Yeah, its really quick and simple. One you get the Trade research then you can start building a freighter which takes a while, and depending on the target planet, the travel distance. So to set up a trade route takes: - Research time - Freighter building time - Freighter travelling time
he Drathi, Yor, and Arceans have amazing starting abilities Where do you guys get this info from? I know we have a partial list above but... BTW, not just 1.1
I went for a tech victory for the first time and ran into some really anoying things ... I wound up assimilating all my allies Not a bug or a fault of the game. Tech victory IS suppose to take forever, that's why the tech line all have research advances which you build to speed things up. You basically need to sacrificing any other tech tree to accom
For the record, I have the same problem with my Dell Insprion laptop. It looks like I'm using the exact same graphic chipset AND omega drivers. To be fair, I don't think it's completely GalCivII's fault because I can't change the brightness in Elite Forces II either without it freezing up. Strangely enough, I find that it only freezes up in game (with all the 3D models) than in the menu.
I think it only affects the ships you make after you have the goods.
You can sometimes steal a single tech when you capture a planet. How that is determined, I don't really know.
Well, maybe we can get the dev's to bring light to the situation...
The Thalan PQ15 world isn't a benefit when you add to it the fact that they don't have a 2nd planet in their system to colonise. Really depends how you look at it. With the Thalans, you already have a PQ15 colonise, which frees up your extra Colony Ship for another star system. In essense you get an
Everything you own project an area of influence - even starbases. Upgraded influence starbases are better at projecting influence. You must intercept the enemy with ships to stop them attack your starbases. They cannot obit them. Overlapping starbases are curmulative for the bonuses they give. The question is whether economy/military starbases do anything on their own (with no modules).
I thought custom races gets 6% logistics too. Anyway, don't forget about alignments too as they will affect the game as well.
Altarians would fight to the death rather than surrender to the Drengin. Actually, Im gonna disagree with this. If you are a 'good' civilisation, you would do everything in your power to preserve your race
I have also never been proposed an Alliance so I imagine that the conditions for willingness to accept one is much less difficult to reach than the willingness to propose one. I think the player must always initiate the Alliance because it is one of the prequisite to winning the an Alliance victory -
