Yes, it's intentional, so there's nothing to "fix." If this strains your suspension of disbelief, consider the following: 1) According to the backstory, the Terrans have already been involved with the other civilizations. 2) If we're in communication with other civilizations, why shouldn't we know something basic about them, like where they live and thrive? E.T. showed Elliot, so one would expect these aliens would show us - if I can

Perhaps one of the most crucial lines in the original post was "GIVE ME MY CONTROL BACK ..." which is quite telling, because you never had that control to begin with in this game. That's why people are saying he's asking for a different game. Would it be nice if there was a perfectly implemented tactical combat option that was optional in the game? Of course it would be, and nobody would argue that as long as it was optional.

I've had problems with Nvidia drivers in the past.(even using the most updated drivers) on other games that is. That's why I switched to using other drivers. You could give these drivers a try Link I've also used these drivers in the past, and tend to find them to be quite solid. In fact, one of my PC's r

ICE - If my eyes don't deceive me, that's actually a PCI card and not PCI express. If that's the case, check to see if you have either a PCI Express or an AGP slot and look for either of those two other options. If you're stuck with the PCI, congratulations on being a survivor of a dying breed. You might want to try Newegg or Zipzoomfly, where you can get the same card significantly cheaper ... and also where you could purchase a cheap, new motherboard, as well <img src=

Each one is entitled to his own opinion, as far as it is expressed without insults, and I've insulted no one. That would be incorrect. Insinuating that Stardock is not standing behind their product and that they only published it as a way to get a larger corporation to be interested in them is by its very

Just a passing thought, but could you use your influence & cash to instigate a multi-front war against the other super power? There would certainly be losses, but if your primary foe is having to divide attention between three or four fronts, that may weaken it to the point where some of the lesser civilizations could make headway, not to mention the Snathi

Well, I see two very different solutions to the problem. 1) scale, cap, or otherwise hinder the massive accumulation of experience -- OR -- 2) teach the AI to do the same to us The latter *may* be easier to code, and just so long as it's not a situation of a human player taking advantage of an AI weakness, I'm fine with incredibly powerful ships. Just imagine two opposing fleets of such ships going up again

I've found the economic model fairly easy to use, although the interrelated aspects aren't always intuitive. I think I can see why the developers made the model that they did: *making it from scratcfh* PERSON 1: "Well, I'd like to see a choice where civilizations can shift their focus from researching new technologies or fully investing themselves in today's technology. Think about the US, for instance - we're so heavily invested in gasoline engines that it's difficult t

I've had a couple of issues with StarForce in the past, though I've been able to work around the problems with a bit of effort. And no, I don't pirate. Starforce isn't the worst out there - I recall issues with a couple of Atari releases where legitimate game CD's would completely fail to be recognized by specific CD-R drives. I actually had to buy a new one (thankfully on sale for about $15) for it to run. THAT was a pretty awful protection scheme. I don't have any inherent issue

About the StarForce admin posting a link to a torrentsite that's something that most people can find anyway....if he had said: "well, GalCiv II doesn't have our protection and is getting pirated" then people would probably tell him to show some hard evidence. Now he did, and he gets blamed for it.... Is this a serious post? Are you reall

unrestrcited tech trade makes 4x games more fun, unless your suck at diplomacy and pay no attention to it. I agree that it would lose some of the fun if it was too restricted. However, needing to research your own stuff seems like a good compromise because then that could be traded without restrictions (although perhaps with other penalties, especi

To further the point of Astax, part of the backstory is that we've already met these civilizations. I would think that while being in communication with them we'd have some notion of where they are.

Yep, I believe that was addressed in the patch, and even without it if you run the movies in fullscreen it will play the audio without the interruptions.

Unfortunately, I don't even know how to post pictures here. The parts are nice, but none of them are needed nor do they enhance the actual gameplay - just the enjoyment of the game for some people. I will say this much which is purely opinion: If since you started this post you haven't had the urge to rush out to a local store to pick up the Collectors Edition (which costs the same as the standard fare and oddly enough is cheaper than the direct download by $5) because you want to m

I picked up my Collectors Edition in-store (in my case, Walmart). There are likely still some boxed Collectors Editions at various outlets (Including Bestbuy, EBGames, Circuit City, etc), although they probably won't show it on their websites because it's a limited run. As for the extras, I can at least say that you get extra cosmetic bits to further customize your ships. By my count, there are 14 extras labeled as "collectors edition." There are other thnigs as well, but I'm not a

I'm still waiting for a Crimson Force Field reference to come up when dealing with one of them. Thus far, I'm quite dissappointed, lol I haven't noticed much if any colonization from the minor races, but that's more than likely because of my level. Maybe a little more aggressive colonization at lower levels, or even just a seperate slider for minor race AI would be nice. I doubt I'd have

I think people have come up with some excellent points & ideas, but I'd like to throw one more out there: Another way to work around this issue is to have another type of cost associated with trading techs - e.g. - If you traded the tech for F22's to China, how would the US population feel? They'd be mad as heck, and morale & approval would take serious hits. If we gave it to England, maybe a bit less, but there would still be some
