Comments? Anyone?

First off, I'd like to say the custom opponent feature is AWESOME. I can easily add all the races I want, without messing around with xml sheets, and without worrying about any limit. That said, the list does get a bit cluttered after adding 10+ custom opponents. That's why I'd propose introducing race categories. Every race would be in a category, and the race list would display one category at a time (selected from a drop-down box above the list). The random opponents option would onl
Okay, thanks. Is it safe to edit the custom race in-game afterwards, or will that reset the race image? edit: Hmm, I noticed the XML does have an entry for the trade image: [filename]_Trade.png. I'll try renaming my trade images to that format. edit: It works!
I've been making my favourite science fiction races as custom opponents, using custom portraits. But if I use a 256x256 portrait, I get a stretched picture on the diplomacy screen, and if I use a 392x256 portrait, the race portait is squished. Is there a way (without modding) to assign both a trade portrait and a normal portrait to a custom opponent?
If I have DA, do I need the latest DL patch?
Oooo! Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou! This is much earlier than I expected!
Nice! I especially like the orbiting ships, and the improved tech tree.
Ooooooh... shiny! Do starbases differ between races in DA?
You forgot to mention multiplayer and carriers. If you ask me, we should have tactical combat, where we could crash carriers into planets as a form of orbital bombardment. In multiplayer.
If you ask me, there should be a lot less defensive upgrades for starbases. Right now, there are more defensive upgrades than functional ones. I think there should be only a few defense upgrades, which are powerful but expensive. Another solution would be a 'starbase defense module'. It is designed like a ship, and every starbase can have one of these modules. They're built by a constructor, and the cost depends on the weapons and armour you've installed on the module. Maybe there shoul
I like the idea of a defensive bonus for smaller ships. My take on this would be introducing weapon mounts. Light mount is smaller, deals less damage, and has a better chance of hitting small ships. Normal mount is just that - normal. Heavy mount is larger, deals more damage, but is only good against large ships. Imagine light mount as small rapid-firing weapons, and heavy mount as large artillery-like guns.
Me likey! These terraformed versions of Mars and Venus, will they show up when you terraform those planets in game?
Also, you might have accidentally built a transport instead of a freighter.
Hmm, I like this idea. Upgrading buildings always seems too automatic to me. Another thing I'd like to suggest is a way to upgrade all buildings of a type on one planet. It would be rather tedious to individually upgrade 20 research buildings on my main research planet.
Oooh, goodie! I can't wait for random-date-before-february-14! One question about the starship intelligence report: where do those description texts for the systems come from? Are they premade, or written by the person who designed the ship?
Whoa... these look awesome! I'll certainly download them when you release them. I just hope they don't make my computer explode...
I like just about every idea mentioned in this thread. Especially the idea that spying on larger empires should be easier. After all, almost every rag-tag band of rebels resorts to covert ops when fighting an evil empire.
Didn't Civilization III allow the player to choose the 'tone' of a diplomatic offer? You could choose to beg for something, demand it, or something in between. I don't know if it had any gameplay effect, though.
Same here. I like my games in a proper box, with a manual and a tech tree and a pony. And I'd still have the game if Stardock would someday mysteriously explode. For no reason.
Extra vowels are evil, but in a civilized way. The UK version has a different CD key than the US version, and has different packaging (at least, the collectors editions differ). There were some problems with these UK cd keys not working. Stardock provided replacement cd keys, and I think Woozywyvern is asking which CD key he should use for preordering. I'd like an answer to this question as well.
Much better. The pages seem to load faster, too.
This is something I'd really like to see in the expansion. Especially the battle tactics. That would give the player some control over how the battle is fought. I'd prefer that to tactical combat, which, IMO, gets tedious after the Nth battle. I don't really understand the ROE, though. Would those be triggered when two ships enter the same square? Or the same sector? Does it work like MOO3 (oh gods, I said the M-word!), where both parties could choose to engage, ignore or flee?
Looks great. My only gripe would be that the game is only distributed digitally. I just like to have a game on a proper CD in a proper box, with a manual and a printed tech-tree and a giant poster and a pony.
I do enjoy hotseat games, but considering the number of hotseat games I'd actually play (2 or 3, making it about 7 bucks per game), it's not worth an expansion to me. I'd rather see you put those limited resources into a good single player expansion.
I'd probably buy the ship pack if it featured enough content. I support the ideas of having ship styles for every race. One other thing you might consider is making some new models for existing parts that now share a model with another part (as in, different models for sensors and shields), or maybe even alternate models for parts, so the player can choose what his laser looks like (between two or three styles, and maybe an empty one). But I
