The forums are definitely impressive, and no doubt it's taken a lot of hard effort make it. Kudos to the webmaster for making them. That said, there are still a few irksome kinks that could be improved upon. I'm sure everyone would be happier for it.

LoL, well, I sort of started out that way. But after I really got into the fiction I went fanatically Capellan. I sort of pictured the Arceans as the way the Davions picture themselves. As for me, it's Crazy Cappies all the way.

I've worked my way up to Painful. Really the only difference I notice is that the game is much more cut-throat in the early game, but once I've swallowed my first or second enemy empire the rest of it's pretty easy and falls back on the same strategy that I use for the other difficulty levels. I'm excited for the patch. I'd love to see the AI find some way to come from behind (ie ally with 2-3 others and -try- to take you down). That woul

Warning: -Purely hypothetical- at this point. So for those of you who follow the Battletech universe, which AI would you match to the following empires to simulate the closest behavior? Help me out here. Re-use AI's if you have to. (My pick is in the parantheses.) Capellan Confederation (Drath Legion) Draconis Combine (Drengin Empire) Free Worlds League (Altarian Republic?) Federated Suns (Arcean Empire)<b

1) 1 billion people = 1 mt/wk food. Most planets start out with a max 5 billion population and 5 mt/wk, so + 1 farm = 9 mt/wk = 9 billion people. 2) I think under class 9 there is a hard cap, irrespective of food produced. I'm not sure, but with class 6 and under farms are definitely not worth it. 3) No farms = 5 mt/wk. So unless the planet's class 6 or less, that would be 5 billion people. Farms scale up depending on you

I think it really depends on how powerful your enemies are. If your enemies are really sticking it to you, you have to specialize more to compete. Slow ships are good for garrison because they will have the same amount of firepower as the faster ships (or more), and so can be last-ditch (solo) defenders in a pinch, while you would need a fleet of equivalent faster ships to defend with the same ability. And from an economic perspective specializing i

If the AI has more speed he can zip around your defense fleets and take your your bases directly, also. Or, do what I did and build turbo-speed combat transports (moved 17 parsecs/turn), then flat out invade the planet while ignoring the defending fleet, which can only move 5 parsecs/turn.

No, economic bases are cumulative. If you want proof, just put two econ bases around a planet, each with just the first upgrade. Your planetary production will be boosted 6%, not just 3%.

Finally typed it up: Primer: Society Phoenixus "Ours is a society born of hardship and sacrifice. Certainly, we cannot be considered a good civilization. Perhaps, some would even call us evil. Nevertheless, we have endured." - Razius Henry Huang Prepared by a. Yeah this happened to me. It occured in Korx space which I was influencing at the time, and it was class 9 instead of class 13. I went from about 25 colonies to 84, using Colony Ships that moved 25 parsecs/turn. The Korx only managed to grab maybe 3-4 planets. I was already winning beforehand, but I shudder to think what would have happened had the Korx been able to capitalize on the event properly. (They were at war with Altaria at the same time

I believe it's how much you are liked by the other races. It goes down when you start wars and goes up when you trade with the other races or give them gifts. And it also goes up with your Diplomacy skill.

Engines will affect how often you can engage in battle (essentially 1 fight per mp, assuming you're next to a stack of enemies), and they allow you to get to the battle. But they don't affect the outcome. This is why there's Destroyers (fast, lightly armed ships meant to blow up smaller enemies), and Cruisers (slower, heavily armed ships meant to blow up Destroyers and other Cruisers). I mainly stick with Destroyer-type

You have to keep your approval rating at minimum 35%. Lower than that and your population actually shrinks instead of grow, which means less taxable income. I personally try to keep it around 55% early game and 80% late game. There are two main reasons for your approval to drop: 1) Taxes are too high - Usually unless you have a lot of entertainment infrastructure you can't raise taxes above 49% without suffering the huge approval
