I prefer fixed, as has been stated above by Raven, the units become pewter pieces once you zoom out to the cloth map anyway. However, in the interest of harmony within the community, the option to turn on/off scaling may be the best choice. Either way, I would play with fixed scaling if given the choice.

Interesting Choices : I like the idea of being able to build anywhere, though perhaps a penalty is in order for doing so on less-than-favorable soil? And the idea of pioneers being required for cities after the founding of the kingdom/empire is also pretty solid imo. NPCs : I think it should come down to the intelligence of the creature in question. If it is something that is capable of understanding us, we should be able to have it join
Does that mean that the half of the game that isn't there doesn't need intensive beta testing, or feedback for improvement? That there can't be any major design flaw to, say, the tactical battles - a part of the game that's wholly untested? I mean, the point of letting us test the cloth map part of the game is that a lot of it could undergo design change based on the testers' advice. What makes the tactical battles (or the research/magi
Tweaking variables is fast. Figuring out *what* variables to tweak to fix some problem that nobody can see yet because we don't have a full game to play against other people (or an intelligent AI) takes considerably longer, and a lot of trial and error. Starcraft 2 is a good recent example. It didn't sit in the balance stage of development for months because the developers are lazy or incompetient. Getting this stuff right takes tim

Very groovy update. And it is nice to know that diplomacy will be receiving a lot of love in this game. It is traditionally a feature in previous games that was rather..lifeless. The total war series as an example, had 9/10 combat (for which it was designed), yet terrible 2/10 diplomacy. I believe diplomacy has to be organic in nature, with many different adjustable variables. I liked what was done with Sins in this regard, however I felt that it lacked the ability to say "no" to a mission gi
Quoting Rath3130, reply 34 Does this mean that units will simply be knocked up into the air regardless of what they are based upon their combat rating? Like if I have a farmer who has a higher combat rating than a dragon (just go with it) and that farmer hits the dragon with his hoe, the dragon will be knocked up in the air comic-style? I mean I like the idea of specialized death/defeated animations. But some more varieties in there wou

Interesting Ron Lugge, I while being somewhat scientifically literate, had never heard of the term used outside of the theater. Though to use it from that context, seems a bit moot. As any fantasy based metal is..well, unobtanium. Either way, many thanks for the added trivia. As they say, knowledge is power and I just gained a level! ..Sorta. [e digicons]^_^[/e] Also, about the topic..The "Death Fly Back" is now supported in both tactical and quick battles </st

Very awesome list of changes there. The whole ale issue is kinda strange..But that is all fine and well, no one should be bothering with it till turn 18/21 anyway (waits for it...). With all due respect to those that are involved here, I have to say in a polite, yet comic manner..Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. [e digicons]:typo:[/e] In response to the naming of the metals.. Most seriously epic facepalm. Now after I had set my nose and wiped the tears from my eyes..Where do we
The book isn't based off the game and the game isn't based off the book. They take place in the same world. The book takes place after the War of Magic which is why Resoln and Tarth are not around at that point (which will be explained in the game in the future). But there are 10 factions during the War of Magic. I am not sure why anyone would sweat it about "the lore". In the sandbox mode, which is what 99.9% of players

Saije, you are quite correct. I haven't played with teenagers on a console system. I play console games (traditionally) for SP, and mostly just RPG games. And while I do understand that you obviously can't transfer everything from SP to MP, without running the serious risk of crossing the streams ..*cough* Anyway, when it comes down to the MP battles, I personally believe it would be best if the duration were left up to the players. If for instance you were to j
Right... Forgot I was on a PC exclusive title's forum... I'm to used to all these console playing teenagers and their MP love fetishes. Feels good to be among my peers for a change. Just the idea of being back amongst the over inflated egos of yonder teenage FPS bumpkins fills my heart with anguish and a desire to dole out enormous amounts of pain and suffering... I need counseling.
Oi..I ve

Well, so far the game is great. I like the flavors of the three factions. My only real complaint so far is the diplomacy options..I get asked to attack other factions that I'm friendly with or really don't want to be attacking at that time..So, what I'd like is some sort of option instead of being forced to attack another..how about an option to either attack or just give resources, instead of being forced into one or the other. I mean I'd rather give support in terms of supplies over ships most

Well, I just found out what caused the utterly massive slow down..I tried what everyone suggested and what not..and all seemed well till my next turn (which I saved..but don't know where to send this stuff) and all of the sudden..one of my planets discovered some precursor ships..It said it found a few..Hah..A few indeed! A few Hundred! I had about 200+ corvettes hovering one of my planets. I couldn't even look at the area or my computer wanted to throw a fit. So uh..where do I go about sending

Greetings, Nilus1. Yes I have saved the game and rebooted fully. Even went as far as leaving the comp off for a while..Anyways that's not the issue nor is it my video card temp. I know this cause I can play any other pre-current patch game and it works without a hitch. Just something has gone wrong with either my new game that has the current patch or it's a possible problem with the AI doing something silly..Like how in another game of mine the AI would build so many tanks/units that

I'm currently playing on the maxium size galaxy with max planets/stars/artifacts/normal tech speed and AI level of challenging with 9 AI players. Normal is what I mostly play in games, but the computer seemed to not fully utilize their worlds. So I felt bad about beating 'em. This is my sixth or seventh trial & error play through..After the newest patch came out, I started a new game (and I swear I remember reading somewhere that there were new icons for player created races..can't fi
