To the Devs... Concentrate on perfecting the Single play. Then start on Multi-play. To the Forum Posters... Brainstorm on how to make a great Multiplay in GavCiv II
Entity Alpha 1
Shadow Battlecrap What's that? Does it nauseate the enemy to death?
was forced to have taxes at 100% If you crank taxes that high, people start to vanish (tax evaders), so you would get less money than at 60%, wouldn't you?
Biggest problem with this ship is it dosen't gain experince so you always have a 1 attack , 1 hp light weight Why dose this not gain XP? is it because its a cargo hull?
Tax sould be no higher then 49%. when you get you stride, I back down to 33%
I think the the tech Capital is mulitpling before something else adds, so you lose some production. It might also have something to do with the research sliders.
The Umbreal Sentience: Ever since they first could reach for the stars, every sentient race has sent out probes to scan the galaxy. For what they were looking for varies upon the race, life, knowlege, slaves. Because of the vast distance between stars, the probes cannot be directed from their home world. So they have protocols that dictate their actions, and over time these protcols grew more complex. One race (the Torians as it happened) s
And if you like math puzzles, you can try to puzzle out the games math.
I don't even pretend to be good or evil, true nuetral all the way.
2)I also tend to "Obsolete" the "Traider" and "Colony" ships as soon as I dont need them anymore, It seems that If I do need a Freighter to deal with replaceing a lost trade rout I'm better off going with a new hull anyway to take advantage of speed or range improvments I obsolete those ships at game
Pretty much, every time I've made it to mid-game I've been "winning". Out of curiousity, what difficulty are you playing at? I almost never end up making military starbases (i tend towards econ or incluence). Also, how long (years) does it end up taking for a victory (tech or otherwise)? I just did a
Seriously, if you were any good at writing (as the odds go) someone would already be paying you to do it. Or they simply haven't found out about you yet...
Research a weapon tech very quick, and get ship in orbit. I like missiles. Then go the way you want. If you use a custom, try to get space militerization in your start techs.
I have had a few frustrating starts, where I play for 20 minutes or so before realizing I'm totally hemmed in on all sides with 3 planets and nowhere to expand to. Continuing with that is a coin toss. That CTRL+N thing sounds handy. This happens to in almost all my games. But I also play an 11 race g
I think this is too help the devs keep the campaign more consistante.
This could be a truly great novel series, and I mean readers 50 years from now. You have great talent, Draginol.
I'd prefer to play through the campaign before playing sandbox games, I figured this would be easier, but I'm having a hard time of it. Have you considered that you may have figured wrong? In sandbox, i find that at low difficultys, the AI leave's you alone and war among themselves till you join the fray. This would differ at higher difficulty
Not that the other aliens in GC2 are bad, exactly, but they do tend to be somewhat well, bland. Do you have suggections for making them less bland, cuz that is rarely a bad thing. As for new races, it's not that simple, as EVERY race has a seperate AI routine. Making a new one is not easy.
Where would one hire the mercenaries? I suggest that they have their own bases in deep Space, and you contact them from there. Or better yet, they're pirates that you can to (not) attack a race. Don't know how hard that would be to code.
Which brings me to one of my few gripes with the game: Once you've built a tech, political, manufacturing, or economic capital, you're stuck with it for the entire game. If a better candidate pops up later in the game, sometimes I would like to be able to demolish one of these and build another elsewhere. Are you allowed to demolish a capital?
The inter-raiclial friction is built in at a higher lvl than bribes are, so effect just filters down. *I think*
You should start work on a GameFAQ for GalCiv II, PirateRob!
So i'll just have to build more telemetry pods. Well, at least they're cheap.
Skew the game to your favor at the start. Set all the other Races to "Fool" lvl Inteligence. you probably knew that. Set some to be ally's at the game start. one or two should be enough. If you really need help, set your auto-allys to a higher intellegence lvl. you might also reduse the total numer of races.
Evil empires should be able to ally as well otherwise it's one sided. They are able to ally, they just tend to backstab each other.
