well, spending is not halted until -500bc. so you could keep on producing for many turns while keep debt at -499bc... but then you won't be able to buy anything (require a positive treasury), and too many turns in debt (even at -1bc) would cause a special morale issue (can't remember the details right now). take a guess on how I know this... abo

I had AI proposes tech trade to me many times, IN MY FAVORITE!!! "What do you want and how badly do you want it?" is the question, and perhaps the only question. It is just that races with a simialr ethical alignment tend to want the same thing and because they have a simialr ethical alignment their relationship is much easier to build up. so

you don't really need them to finish the campaign. just research the tech yourself if they won't trade to you. tread them like your bank; sell them all your techs, 1-2 at a time for max. profit. They can't win the campaign anyway, and they will awlays be your teammates, so who caes if they have all your tech, weaponry (they won't use it against you). tread them like your shield; help them out (trade tech, etc) let them deal wit

here are the steps: 1. rise tax as high as possible without anger (red) your people. 2. lower your spending as low as possible, 0% if you want to speed it up. 3. sell some stuff to other races at hte highest price that you can get. ships, techs, planets, anything that you are willing to part. specially techs, if you sell one to one race then sell the same tech to EVERYONE ELSE. step 2 will be applied at 0% automatically o

well... this is how it feels like to me... AI DO scout for planets before sending colonyship (I have seen it many times in my games) for the most part. Other than Human, all races start with "Stellar Cartography." So all races (other than human) know where all planets are. But they don't know plants' class. So scouts were sended out to check on them. As soon as the planet is within scout's sensor range, the class of the planet can b

design and save your ship without any modules (no weapon, no engine, no lifesupport, etc. just design how it looks, a Mk0). since this ship has no tech requirement, it should show up in your new games when you have meet the Hull requirement. Just "Upgrade" it with stuff based on your current tech and save under a different name ( v2, or Mk3, or a completely different name, its up to you)

as far as I concern, There is a tactical map for tactical battle! It is just blended in with the main strategy map. (funny, how come no one complain Civ 4 has no “tactical” map?) On the STRATEGY map you decide which STRATEGIC area to attack/defend, how many and what type ships needed. This is done by STRATEGICLY built-up your planets, producing ships, form them into a group, and send them there. When they get there, the

don't have time to read the original post in details (at work right now). I just want to say two things about combat. 1) Defense is very powerful. Try it in your next game, you will see what you have been missing. A well D-up starbase, with only 8+1+1 attack and 33 HP, could take on several fleets with 30 Attack and combined HP over 100. And starbase doesn't have first strike!!! (it can't initiate attack). A fleet with

no, you don't really have to go all the way to it. every ship has a sensor range, you just need to get a ship close enough to it to tell. goto shipyard, and design a cargo ship with some speed, enough range, then fill it up with sensors. You will be able to see very far with it. also use this ship at critical locations, so you can see who is coming or going. when you click on the planet, the class of it will shown. class 0 is unhabitalbe, everyt

I have just finished my first metaverse game. the score was updated for my character, but not my empire. Is there a reason for this? or it might be an error that I need to report to stardock? Could someone help me?
