I killed a Yor heavy fighter in the north, losing one ship, then tried to pull back my fleet one parsec when it crashed. Debug.err does not seem to print anything about it as the last entry is the destruction of the ships. Does not reproduce when I load autosave, so I don't think it will help you much . Alliances require both researching them AND a close relationship with the civ in question. Trade a lot with one, give them valuable presents, wage war against their enemies and be very diplomatic, and you'll get such a relationship.

The AI might take into consideration how many other civs have the tech in question. Supply and demand... If everyone is able to give the last civ the tech, why shouldn't they sell it cheap? After all, if you don't, there's guaranteed to be someone else who will take the petty cash. Thus, as the player whores away a given tech, (s)he will get diminishing value for each civ traded with.

Hmm, syneris is right, it actually is there. Strange that the find files didn't find it when searching C:, but only when searching C:/Program Files. It's the same for any other file under Program Files, so it must be a Windows bug (or intended feature).

Bingjack, I perceived it as "hidden" because I couldn't find out how it was started without resorting to Hijackthis. In fact there is no file called sdmcp.exe, so I was quite suspicious about where it came from.

Oh, I hadn't walked through the preferences in SD Central. I suppose it's "enable MCP SmartStartup" or "enable MCP notification area support"? Still curious about what they actually do. Brad is welcome to my pROn, however I'd like to keep the private stuff to myself .

Since I installed Galactic Civilizations II, or probably already when I installed Stardock Central, there is a process called sdmcp.exe running on my computer. Searching for it on Google reveals it is a part of "Stardock Personalization Software". I'd like to decide when to run Stardock Central myself, rather than having it run at boot time, so I've been searching my registry and startup locations in the start menu, finding no trace of it. Hijackthis r

A contract is a condition for payout of the other items in a suggested trade, and such a trade would be delayed until the condition is met. Any cash involved needs to be "frozen", not available for either party until the contract is fulfilled or violated. Of course any contract would be void if the involved parties declare war on eachother. It will allow a "mercenary" vocation (like the arms dealer you can currently play) as well as increase the range

Stardock is not the industry standard. The industry standard is not caring about the customers once their purchase money are secured. Stardock is among the amazingly few who do care about the games they create after shipping time, and continually improve them with no extra charge. The great quality of Stardock's products and commitment to their customers are truly outstanding, and deserve to be rewarded. I'm sure they will be, as everyone here is busy

Given the simplistic technology tree (which I am not complaining about), there is always a clear way to tell whether a component is superior to one currently on the ship (Laser II -> Laser V -> Plasma II). The best way for upgrading a ship design to me would be to have all the old components present, and a button to upgrade everything to anything superior you may have acquired. Given that some technology takes up more space than their predecessors (typ
