Actually I rather enjoy the AI's ship development... I've been suprised a couple of times now, where I had a look at their ships--designed mine with the correct defense/offense combo to beat theirs and then they go and add a second class of weapons to their ships...Here I am with armor and their missiles are ripping through my hull like it was made of tissue paper.... I just hate the Altarans and their way stupid influence bonuses, they start absorbing
HAL
Since this subject is refering to bugs with 1.1b3... I've got an issue where when I install b3 all the buttons in game lose their text... is this a known issue or just me? Could it be a resolution issue? 1280x1024 is what I'm set to... Also running an ATI Radeon 9600...
Yeah the AI's "Heavy Fighters" are pretty pathetic as far as fighters go... They class anything with 2 weapons or more as heavy... I don't start building light fighters until I can put two weapons on they... As for building templates, I build an empty hull (Othello class) --tiny hull and then as I get more tech I create the mk1, mk2 etc versions of it. As they've said several times, don't bother with the default ships yours will almost alway
I admit that I like the option to load the beta and install it... If it screws something up I can reinstall, no biggie... But on the other hand if should be default that betas do not show up, as some newbe will undoubtably complain about downloading a beta instead of an official patch...
I use them as fodder... I pack as much defence on the ship as I can and then escort it with two or three fighters... the fighters always survive and gain exp. which makes them more and more deadly... Also with a little extra firepower it totally changes the nature of a battle... If you're defence technology is high enough these ships are almost untouchable and relatively cheap for a first time "capital" ship...
I always pick good or neutural planet choices with the exception of planet quality choices. I don't really care about taking morale or pop hits but changing a 10 planet into a 14+ is a deal I cannot refuse...
Nice cruiser... I've been going for the "simple" look (mainly because I find it annoying to try to add too many pieces to a hull) I've used the voyageresque medium hull with the large U shaped component --mounted on the bottom so that it points up allong with some basic "nasels" and pretty lights to make my basic attack vessel... its nice looking but not a design master piece... I've been hoping that Brad will include animated parts in the future, main
Yup, the only problem with my favorite new space opera is that the episodes always leave you hanging... The old BSG with the Pegasis was over in one episode the crazy admiral taking his ship back into the heart of the colonies... This is a sweet review though, so I guess I'll have to bide my time until next season playing Galciv2 maybe in an e
I usually set it to huge, scattered stars and planets/habitable to abundant... Then set anomolies to occationally and tech to slow or painfully slow. 6 races plus minors. I find that on normal the other races will start doing the race to colonize thing about 20 turns or so into the game, which usually gives me enough time to set up a nice little pocket empire to rule the galaxy from...me and my allies the snathi (sp? EVIL squirrels <img src="http://im
I think for the time being until Brad gives it a definitive bonus -- or tells me that there is one -- I'll start picking something useful like population (little aliens gettin' funky... )
I've been picking the creative racial option basically because it sounds like a good deal, but I haven't noticed any benefits in game... Would I be better off placing the point somewhere else?
Yeah I've noticed that in the beta the AI doesn't seem as blood thirsty... No one declared war on me until I owned almost half the galaxy... I had not even developed space militarization... However I was far enough ahead in tech that I would get two or three military techs each week once I started researching them
Normally the bonuses for evil choices aren't really good enough for me to chose them -- and they usually reduce my pop. which is my tax base ... The only evil choice I make is the semi-sentient worm thingies... the +20-34% planetary bonus is too good to pass up--use 'em for fertilizer I say <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/BigSmile.gif" border=0
Everyone gets on the bus.... the AI will be takin' us to school at least once due to being under-estimated...
Impatience in this case may be a good thing... It shows a genuine desire for the incredible improvements that will be made in the AI... Just reading frogboy's latest journal and I'm highly impressed with the new features....
I'm weeping in awe right now... or is this retinal burn from reading so intendly... not really sure, but it adds up to the same thing: an all consuming desire for 1.1 upgrade...
Sigh.... The wait is slowing killing me.... The agony of anticipation, weeping and gnashing of teeth as I long for the next GREAT THING to come forth...Sigh
Where is the Beta patch on SDC? I've gone to my games section and clicked on update app and nothing... There doesn't seem to be a download section... I'm a little frustrated, I'm super eager to try the new patch...
Mr. Scout, just a question, is working at an ISP anything like userfriendly.org? Iknow that being a netadmin is nothing like playing nethack all day but I was wondering if it was different for you folks...
1.1 beta is on Central... Frogboy anounced it this morning... as soon as I get home from work I intend to download it...
Yup the I-League is in GalCiv II... I found that the best way to get more minor races was to issue large ships to the existing ones (several cruiser class ships to the Snathis seems to work well)... once they had smashed some of the major races lots of little guys start coming out of the woodwork...
Now I've gotten both the corvettes and the rangers, but I've never tried decommissioning them...do you get any reverse engineering techs from decommissioning alien vessels that have more technology than you?
Yeah, my pre-order came in yesterday...and it was x360 version I don't own an x360..... So they had to reorder it for me....Not that I'll get to play it until I've mastered galciv2 --men like windows preemptively multitask (one thing at a time in slices)--I probably won't get playing until April at this rate (I've only managed to finish about 3 full games
Yeah, like a Hubble improvement...
